Hello fellow adventurers,
My name is Jonathan Burnham and I am the newest member of the Wildand team. I will be the Marketing Manager here and I am ecstatic about going Wild. Trust me when I say you are going to see plenty of blogs from me covering everything from my travels with Wildland to news about what's going on in the adventure travel world.
I figured since I'm the new kid on the blog I'd give you a little background about myself. I was born and raised in Southern California. Family travel was real important growing up and my Dad took me to visit National and State Parks all over the country, giving me the opportunity to learn about the diversity of natural habitats and their importance firsthand. I can say from experience that getting the opportunity to actually see how icebergs are made by calving glaciers in Alaska or how over a billion years of geologic processes formed the Grand Canyon is the best way to learn about them. After high school I moved to Mammoth Lakes, CA to go to college and compete in snowboarding. I got the opportunity to combine my love for travel and snowboarding when I went to New Zealand and Australia to compete in snowboarding events. Then I went back to Los Angeles and got a job hosting events for a radio station, which was where I found my passion for marketing and promotions. Soon after that I headed up to Reno, NV to finish my degree in Psychology. I was lucky enough to spend my last semester studying Spanish in Spain and it gave me the chance to travel all over Europe and meet some amazing people. It was there where I gained an immense appreciation for the value of getting to know the locals and experiencing as much as I could from each culture. Since my return from Spain I have been immersed in the world of travel. I spent the last two years guiding adventure tours in the U.S., Europe and Canada and honing my marketing skills by developing meaningful marketing geared towards savvy adventure travelers. I just made the move up to Seattle last week and I am living the dream! Sharing not only my travels, but also the amazing adventures of fellow travelers is the best job in the world!
Much more to come from my adventures with Wildland!
till then, keep it wild!
