New Family Adventure Vacations

Posted by on
2013 has brought many new family adventure vacations to the Wildland collection and we couldn't be more excited to share these new experiences with adventurous families. We spent last year traveling around the globe searching for new destinations and making new connections, so that we could handcraft the adventures families were asking for. Our new trips for 2013 are the perfect blend of adventure travel mixed with our signature 'Wild style' of meaningful cultural encounters and active explorations all the while staying in boutique accommodations that encompass the local hospitality and way of life. This type of travel is perfect for families wanting to make the most of their travel time by choosing adventures that also serve as educational experiences for young travelers.  With out without further adieu here's what's new for family adventure travel in 2013.

Our Nicaragua Family Adventure offers 9 days to explore the natural beauty and colonial charm that is the heart and soul of Nicaragua. This adventures takes families trekking through the rainforest amongst hundreds of tropical birds, flying through the canopy by zipline and hiking the Mombaco and Masaya Volcanoes. Children are also immersed in the culture with a visit to a local kitchen where they learn how to prepare a traditional meal and get to spend time at a local school.

Our Nicaragua Adventure Tour also offers 9 days of adventure through stunning natural landscapes, rural villages, incredible lakes, and tropical beaches. This adventure includes biking and kayaking activities, a visit to a beautiful Pacific beachfront boutique ecolodge and the chance to sand board down the Cerro Negro Volcano.

Our Preferred Belize Family Adventure offers 8 days to travel through this small Caribbean country and experience Creole, Maya, and Garifuna (African) culture. See amazing wildlife and natural wonders with our master naturalist guide. Watch for iguanas as you paddle down the Macal River, glide past brilliant crystalline stalactites in the depths of the Barton Creek Cave, whiz through the forest canopy on an extensive zip line network, inner tube through an incredible cave system with Mayan relics and imagine ancient times of the Maya exploring the ruins of Xunantunich.

Kenya Family Safari
Explore the remote wilds of the Kenyan bush with your family on this one of a kind adventure. Fly into private reserves to see the best that Kenya has to offer, filling your days with game drives, night drives, walking safaris, and remote camping via camel back. Retire to hand-selected boutique lodges and camps to get a comfortable night’s sleep and exquisite home cooked meals.

Discover the wonders of our South Africa Family Safari on a 10 day active safari featuring the wildlife-rich Madikwe Game Reserve as you search for lions and leopards stalking their prey, giraffes and zebra browsing the acacia trees, and hippos and crocodiles lounging leisurely along the riverbanks. Also enjoy fun beach and marine activities along the Indian Ocean.

This wild Borneo family adventure in Malaysia takes you into the last remnants of truly untamed tropical rainforests, a place teeming with some of the richest biodiversity on Earth, and to the Celebes Sea, perhaps the world’s most pristine tropical marine habitats. Based from well-appointed ecolodges and accompanied by our expert naturalist guides, you fly, drive and cruise into coastal areas bursting with endemic wildlife Sabah region of Borneo. Visit the Sepilok Orangutan Center and spend several days walking through 130-million-year-old primary forests of the Kinabatangan River Sanctuary and the Danum Valley Conservation Area.

This active Peru adventure designed for active families and travelers of all ages, ventures high into the Andes to a remote and spectacular Inca trail to Machu Picchu. Our day hike on one of the most beautiful protected remnants of Inca trail leads to the recently discovered complex of Llactapata. Our expert Wildland guide takes us bushwhacking with machete in-hand to uncover hidden ruins, just like Hiram Bingham and other expedition leaders who searched for lost Inca cities. We gain a deep understanding of life in the Andes by visiting indigenous Quechua families in their home.

In Zambia, the “hidden jewel of wild Africa,” venture with us into the heart of a pristine African wilderness by foot, vehicle and canoe. With vast, protected areas of wildlife habitats in some of Africa’s largest (and least-visited) national parks, Zambia is the best place for an active and adventurous family safaris.

Join India program director, Laura Finkelstein, and her son, Benjamin, on this escorted adventure in southern India. South India is welcoming for families with children of all ages – here you can search for wild elephants in the wilderness, ride bikes on quiet village roads, and stand at the feet, literally, of a giant statue of a Jain Divinity. Our route takes us to coffee and spice plantations, to the most beautiful palace in India at Mysore and to elaborately-carved Hindu temples.

Unexplored Chile: Raft, Hike & Ride Patagonia
Discover Chile from Santiago southward, venturing first to the Cochamo Valley of Northern Patagonia, often called the ‘Yosemite of the South.’ Follow an ancient pioneer trail once traveled by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and like modern gauchos ride high into the hills to a remote Mountain Lodge tucked beneath steep granite peaks. Enjoy guided climbs along fixed rope routes to lofty heights where condors soar or hike through the temperate rainforest to find cascading waterfalls and 4,000 year old Alerce trees. Back at sea level, raft the Puelo River, climb up river gorges and slide down waterfalls, spend a day in the Reloncavi Fjord with a local fisherman and his family and mountain bike around the perfectly conical Osorno volcano before continuing to Torres del Paine.

Keeping it wild,
