Climbing a Rock Fortress in Sri Lanka

Climbing a Rock Fortress in Sri Lanka
If you’ve been up Huayna Picchu and loved it you may want to start considering a trip to Sri Lanka as your next destination for its fantastic rock fortress – Sigirya. A UNESCO heritage site, this commanding palace was built in the 5th century. 1,200 stairs take you to the top with the final push to the summit guarded by the paws of a giant lion. The top offers sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, ruins to explore, and a birds eye view of the oldest gardens in Asia. After your early morning hike, you can enjoy some Sri Lankan delicacies prepared by a local family that will allow you to sit and imagine what life was like when this palace in the sky was at the height of its glory. Meet & Greet with Kelsey, Wildland's Asia Program Director

Meet & Greet with Kelsey, Wildland's Asia Program Director
Hello! It’s nice to “meet” all of you! My name is Kelsey and I’m the new program director for Wildland’s trips to Asia . I’m coming into this position with what I like to consider both hard and soft skills. I have the travel experience and academic knowledge (Asian Studies minor in college) to be a specialist for many parts of this sprawling continent. My first of many trips to Asia took me through six different countries in 9 months and it was love at first sight (and taste). I’m always planning my next trip back to Asia and I like to say that we’re in a committed and successful long distance relationship.  I’m also coming in with a lot of enthusiasm, I love traveling and I love connecting with people who are excited about traveling. The people I have met through Wildland so far have been so wonderful and it’s great...

New in the Wild

New in the Wild
Hola! As the new South America program director, I wanted to take the time to introduce myself and also take a moment to thank Kirsten Gardner for paving the way for me and offering such great support and guidance as I assume this position. My name is Gretchen Traut and I was born in New York City and raised in Seattle.  My family has roots in Germany and along the Slovak/Polish border which resulted in frequent travels to Europe during my childhood to visit relatives and family friends. My family’s strong heritage and yearly travels ignited within me a deep and ever-broadening desire to venture into the unknown and seek out intercultural experiences and adventures. The vast majority of my adult life I have spent abroad, as I have constantly looked for new ways to study, teach and travel internationally on my own.  I think that, as international citizens in this...

We are having a FABULOUS time in Turkey

We are having a FABULOUS time in Turkey
We love getting updates from our guests while they are traveling, recently we received this from a guest on one of our trips to Turkey . "Just a quick note to let you know that we are having a FABULOUS time. Deniz is the best and shares our love of getting lost. We feel like we are traveling with a good friend and not a guide! This is truly turning into the adventure of a lifetime. We love, love, love the flexibility of the schedule. You did a fabulous job of planning this portion and Wildland knows the best in country operators. More when we get back!" Cheers!!! Susan Lopinot Guest on Wildland Adventures Turquoise Coast Odyssey
