Myanmar is spectacular!

Myanmar is spectacular!
A group of 6 intrepid travelers just traveled through Myanmar together and had a blast! Here's Judy to tell us a little bit about it: "We loved our trip. Myanmar is a wonderful place to visit. The people are kind, inquisitive, helpful and beautiful. The food is amazing. The country is spectacular. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to discover a country unspoiled by tourists. But that will only last a couple of more years, so get there quickly!" On accommodations: "I loved the Strand - I've stayed at Raffles in Singapore a couple of times, and this was definitely reminiscent. The hotel in Kalaw was lovely, with wonderful food. We had a Burmese meal the first night and a western meal the second. The western food suffered in comparison!" Favorite moments: "I think my favorite thing was the breakfast in the local tea shop. That was so much fun...

Spectacled Bear Spotted in Machu Picchu Sanctuary!

Spectacled Bear Spotted in Machu Picchu Sanctuary!
We are so excited to hear that an Andean Spectacled Bear was spotted on Thursday, November 25th by a group of Italian tourists on the last day of their Inca Trail Trek. Check out the video they captured: This threatened species is the only native South American bear whose habitat extends from Panama through Argentina. It's largest population resides in the Peruvian Andes. Many of our guests traveling with Wildland Adventures to Peru have helped us make a difference for the Andean bear by supporting local research and conservation efforts.    Fun facts about the Andean Bear: • Andean bears are among the least known and most vulnerable of the eight bear species in the world.  • About the size of an American black bear, the Andean bear spends a lot of time in trees searching for fruit. • Also known as Spectacled bears, these charismatic creatures have unique markings around...

The Entire Trip Was Amazing

The Entire Trip Was Amazing
Listen to this solo female traveler share her experience of hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu ! “I had always wanted to see Machu Picchu, and for this trip I wanted something adventurous and physically challenging and Wildland Adventure’s Inca Trail Trek was the best I found! I loved the hike. The camp sites were awesome- I've never been so spoiled while hiking! Our guide, Elkin was awesome! Very knowledgeable, professional, and made sure that we all had everything we needed. The food on the trek was the most amazing- better than restaurant meals! I really appreciated that they made me vegetarian meals that were delicious. The entire trip was amazing. The people, the culture, the views, the trek... everything was wonderful.” To learn more about our Inca Trail Trek feel free to contact me. Your friendly South America Program Director, Gretchen

Our Guides Were Phenomenal!

Our Guides Were Phenomenal!
After invited by her friends to join them on the Machu Picchu Mountain Lodges Trek , Marian decided to go for it! Here she shares some of the highlights of her high Andean adventure while trekking to Machu Picchu! “The main highlights, besides Machu Picchu ,for me was the fact that the Inca ruins everywhere! Cusco was incredible and our guides were phenomenal! We couldn't have had better service and attention. We were greeted in Cusco in the middle of a transportation strike and your staff took excellent care to see that we made it to our hotels. They did an excellent job. Eddie Pisaro, our guide, and his assistant, Claudio were absolutely fantastic. Every meal at the mountain lodges stood out! The accommodations were AMAZING, I wish I lived there! My favorites were: the JW Marriott in Cusco, all of the mountain lodges and Machu Picchu Pueblo in Aguas Calientes!!”...

A Wonderful Experience in Peru

A Wonderful Experience in Peru
Guest review from two alumni travelers who, with a group of their friends, just completed our Manu Wildlife Safari Overland Adventure: Andes and Amazon in Peru! “We had a wonderful experience in Peru . Our guides (Ruben & William) were fabulously friendly, had great senses of humor, and had great stores of knowledge about Inca and cultural history, flora and fauna. William's ability to imitate bird calls or reproduce them using his Iphone to lure them, then point ing them out to us with his laser was amazing in allowing us to view them. A fond memory was catching Piranha with William in an Oxbow lake. Ruben told tales of bullfights featuring condors and bulls and his own experience with an Alto Misayoc seeking treatment for his friend 6 years ago. A favorite memory is listening to a choir of Quechuans in traditional dress, singing in the Cusco Cathedral, a very haunting and heart-piercing...
