Differences Between Eastern and Southern Africa

Larger than China, Europe and the United States combined, the African continent is a vast and varied. Deciding where to go in Africa is your first decision when planning your safari. Each destination offers an experience that is unique and awe-inspiring: whether you travel to Eastern Africa or Southern Africa the wildlife will astound you. And on a Wildland Adventures African safari some of your most memorable and meaningful experiences will be among the people you meet traveling with our exceptional guides and sharing stories with indigenous people like the Zulu of South Africa or the Maasai of Kenya and Tanzania. There are many factors to consider in deciding where to go on safari. Our African travel specialists have spent much of their lives on African safari tours. They can help you decide where to go on safari in Africa, and once you know where you want to go they help...

My Love Of Travel and Traveling With My Love

At the risk of getting mocked by my own staff, I'll admit it here and now: I got wildly inspired to share my world of adventure travel from Robert Redford's character as Denys Finch Hatton in the 1985 movie Out of Africa. When Denys takes Karen Blixen up in the biplane to fly over the African savanna and out on safari in Kenya I knew that's what I wanted to do when I found the love of my life: to share my spirit for adventure and love of wild places. So, after I started Wildland Adventures one year after the movie was released and met Anne one year after that, I had my "Finch Hatton moment"  to plan my own wild honeymoon adventure. Women swoon over this scene when Fitch Hatton shampoos Karen's hair in camp. Guys, we can help you create these kinds of moments that will put your love on cloud...

South Africa Honeymoon Safari

Any romantics out there? This past year I married the love of my life, but I proposed to her on a safari in South Africa last year. I couldn't have dreamed that I would have gotten such an extraordinary chance to propose to the woman I love in such an amazing place and it certainly did not hurt that we were treated like royalty at the Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge. I was able to work with the lodge and guides to organize a walk to the top of a beautiful hilltop just as the sun was setting before getting back in our safari vehicle where we quickly came across an incredibly rare sighting- 2 leopards mating. An unbelievably magical and romantic experience that we will forever cherish.     Africa has always been close to my heart having spent so much of my young life studying and working at wildlife reserves...

Far From The End

If you are reading this chances are the world didn't end today! But it did provide a chance to poke fun at all this end of the world junk. These are a few of my favorites I've seen. We also had some fun with this at Wildland and ran a survey asking people where they would go if the world was really going to end. And the winner goes to....... a safari in Africa was the overwhelming favorite, with trekking in Patagonia coming in second and seeing tigers in India sneaking into third place. Now with all this rubbish out of the way, it's a good time to start planning for the future. Even though all of this end of the world stuff was pretty ridiculous, it does get you thinking that life is too short and who knows... maybe a fiery asteroid might just come hurtling at earth one day. When I got...

Botswana Named Top Destination in 2013

Fodor’s just recently named Botswana as one of the top destinations to visit in 2013 and for good reason. Safaris in Botswana are THE place to go for a truly WILD adventure into the Africa Wilderness, far away from signs of human development like fences, roads, and cities. Botswana’s, and perhaps Africa’s crown jewel, The Okavango Delta is widely known as the Garden of Eden. The world’s richest and largest inland delta system is home to some of the last great herds of iconic mammals such as elephants, buffalo and zebra. Travelers experience the wilderness from the comforts of a tented camp, either permanent or mobile, and thus there is no “commuting” to the wildlife like in other parks and reserves. The Kalahari Desert often is traveled to as an extension to the Reserves and Parks like Okavango and Chobe with stunning open vistas, unique Kalahari game viewing, interactions with local Bushman and...
