Navigating the Skies of SE Asia

Cambo-Fields
It seems rare to hear someone say they’re traveling solely to Vietnam...or only to Cambodia. More often than not, people are traveling to the ethereal region of Southeast Asia, combining several countries into one trip. In the past few years, the region has worked hard to increase the number and quality of flights, to expedite border crossings, and to reduce the hassle of getting multiple visas. Until recently, 2 weeks might have only been enough time to see Vietnam due to the hassle of traveling overland or the limitation of just one flight per week to Cambodia. Now, with improved overland routes and abundant air connections, we can offer 12 day itineraries that span Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia without breaking the bank. If you want your next trip to SE Asia to cover a lot of ground, be sure to take advantage of the frequent flights between major cities. The air...

Etihad Brings Back The Glam To Flying

Etihad Brings Back The Glam To Flying
Just imagine. I’m getting ready to board a 16 hour flight from Abu Dhabi to Los Angeles and I’m actually looking forward it; not just getting home to Anne, but actually to the inflight experience on Etihad Airlines , the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates. It’s one of the best in-flight services now, especially in Business Class, but it is soon going to take flying to entirely new heights: Etihad is bringing the glamor, along with the comfort, back to the skies with their new aircraft and enhanced in-flight services. I traveled to Abu Dahbi with the head of the North American sales office for Etihad, Patrick Dunne, who took me to the Etihad Innovation Center, a full size, walk-through reconstruction of the new A380 and Boeing 787 aircraft cabins, including mock-ups of The Residence by Etihad™ and the new First Apartments and First Suites. Our walk-through also featured...

From an Expert: Five Tips for Booking Last Minute Airfare

From an Expert: Five Tips for Booking Last Minute Airfare
Guest Blog from Isaac Hilpman, Director of Partner Accounts at Exito Travel.  As a travel professional specializing in international airfare I am often asked for advice about purchasing last minute tickets. So while the only guarantee with airfare is that it is going to change, here are some suggestions for my fellow travelers. Tip #1: Don’t do it! Waiting until the last minute to book flights is a big mistake if you want ideal routings and inexpensive fares. Airfare is based on availability. Generally speaking, the closer one is to their date of departure the fuller the flights and thus the higher the price. Additionally, the airlines have what are referred to as advanced purchase requirements. These requirements state that tickets must be purchased fourteen to fifty days prior to departure for the best rates in a given market. A massive airfare consolidator recently analyzed more than four million flights booked on...

Nicaragua’s Newest Airport Is Officially Open

Nicaragua’s Newest Airport Is Officially Open
If you've been planning a trip to Nicaragua there is good news! The newest airport is officially open and that means it’s even easier to get to the enchanting Ometepe Island in the middle of Lake Nicaragua. The La Paloma Airport received its inaugural flight on La Costeña Airlines from Managua. The flight from Managua to Ometepe Island is about a 20-minute domestic flight. Ometepe Island is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and is home to richly diverse habitats and wildlife, as well as incredible culture and history. Its two distinct volcanoes, Concepcion and Maderas, grace the skyline as you glide into the new Ometepe Airport from Managua. Airfare costs about $65 one-way, or $100 roundtrip. You can also take the ferry as we have done in the past. Either way, it’s worth the trip to Ometepe!  Why is Ometepe such an attractive destination? Well there is a wide variety of activities...
