I Loved It All

I Loved It All
Suzy and her husband participated in part of a custom trip to Patagonia with four of their friends, cruising from Punta Arenas to Ushuaia, ice trekking on Perito Moreno Glacier and hiking in Torres del Paine. “The cruise and landing at Cape Horn was really fantastic! We had a beautiful (for Cape Horn) sunny day and even got to observe sea lions sunning on the rocks prior to landing at Cape Horn. The climb on the Perito Moreno glacier outside of El Calafante was very special and one of the other highlights for Bob and me. Finally, the hikes in Torres del Paine were extraordinary with fabulous scenery and great exercise. Although some of the hikes were more challenging for me than I expected, I loved it all. Our guides throughout were very well informed and enthusiastic.Magdaly in El Calafante was very well informed, as were both Maca and Claudio who...

A Once In Life Time Adventure to Patagonia

A Once In Life Time Adventure to Patagonia
Guest review from Charlie, part of a group of six friends who did a Custom Patagonia Trip . “The trip was fantastic…a once in a lifetime adventure. You folks did a great job of: 1) anticipating the types of accommodations we would prefer (basically 5 star hotels and resorts) and also the type of experiences we would enjoy. In particular, we appreciated your blending the different elements of the trip together is such a seamless fashion. As Gretchen knows, we covered a lot of territory in a relatively brief period of time. Thanks to your excellent assistance we did so in an extraordinarily efficient, comfortable and seamless fashion. Thank you. You could not have done a better job. Pre-departure advice and information was especially helpful. Top three experiences: Walking on the Glacier in El Calafate; Landing on Cape Horn Island; The hike we took on our second day in Torres Del...

More Than Met Our Expectations: Wine, Chocolate and Football in Patagonia

More Than Met Our Expectations: Wine, Chocolate and Football in Patagonia
Guest review from Anne, part of a group of six friends who did a custom trip through Patagonia , ending with a heartwarming story about watching the super bowl in Torres del Paine! “Wildland Adventures' planning was excellent. We gave you the dates and what we wanted to do in Patagonia and you more than met our expectations. The trip was fabulous. We had great guides throughout the trip. Ana in BA was quite knowledgeable and we were there at a difficult time when the prosecutor died under mysterious circumstances. Gabrielle who met us in Bariloche and then was our hiking guide, brew pub guide and then our lake crossing guide was extremely knowledgeable and more than that fun to be with. Finally our two guides at AWASI, Maca and Claudio, were top notch. Airline and ground transportation arrangements were excellent. All of our transfers and land drivers were on time...

Exploring Peru and Argentina for 30 Days

Exploring Peru and Argentina for 30 Days
Beginning with a trip to visit family and friends in Stockholm, Berlin and Bulgaria, 2014 commenced with a festive bang! This was just the warm up though, for what was yet to come. In August, I set out to Peru for four weeks of exploring the contrasting, ancient-modern urban centers, trekking the Inca Trail , piranha fishing and swimming in the Amazon, boating on Lake Titicaca, and eating the best ceviche of my life in a quiet fishing village on the sea. All the while surrounded by warm, inviting and inspiring people. After having lived between Seattle and Argentina for almost nine years, Peru was an exciting window to another invigorating facet of Latin America’s rich diversity. Peru is a land of contrast as much geographically, as it is culturally, architecturally, visually, and gastronomically. In the west, the coast is dry, tracing its way north and south along the Pacific. To...

When the travel gods give you bad weather- keep calm and…drink wine!

When the travel gods give you bad weather- keep calm and…drink wine!
Currently in Argentina there are several severe wind storms, mainly within the province of Buenos Aires, passing through the country. This has resulted in much pandemonium around flight delays and cancellations including two of our own traveler’s flights from Mendoza to Buenos Aires. I checked in with these guests this morning to let them know that we were adjusting their itinerary so as not to miss important excursions in their next destination and that we had alerted the next hotel they would be arriving later than expected. They told me that they were having a ball and taking advantage of the extra time to do some additional wine tasting in Mendoza . I loved this attitude and think that it perfectly embodies the go-with-the-flow nature we all must strive for while traveling when circumstances out of our control arise. Why not make something great of it? This underlies howwe, the Wildland Team...
