Get Ready for an Incredibly Special Experience in Bhutan - Family Guest Review

Get Ready for an Incredibly Special Experience in Bhutan - Family Guest Review
A three generation family of intrepid travelers recently returned from an unforgettable trip to Bhutan with nothing but glowing reviews for the land of the thunderdragon. Sabra, Hawkins, and Indigo are an active family who were looking to travel to Bhutan to experience the culture of this remote mountain kingdom, go hiking in the foothills of the Himalayas, and immerse themselves in Buddhism. They found all this and more as you can see from their comments below: Please comment on the enthusiasm, professionalism, or other qualities of your local guides: Sherab Zangmo - who my son named "Sherif" the first day - was absolutely amazing. She was very knowledgable, full of interesting information, always enthusiastic, made adjustments according to our needs, took great care of us - no words can express our gratitude for her. We loved her and highly recommend her! Superb. Our guide and driver became like family. They...

Sue and Carmi Explore China

Sue and Carmi Explore China
Three-time Wildland alums Sue and Carmi came to us last year asking, "what about China?" What about China indeed! Even though China isn't listed on our website, Asia PD Kelsey had spent time traveling in China and was excited to design an itinerary in the land of dragons and emperors.  Sue and Carmi explored an impressive variety of what China has to offer from the Great Wall to Tiger Leaping Gorge to the Terracotta Warriors to riding the rails through the Chinese countryside. Their 3 week trip took them from the capitol city iof Beijing all the way to the Southern metropolis of Shanghai in an adventurous loop. Enough from me, I'll let Sue and Carmi do the talking. Here's a little more from their trip report: What were the main reasons you chose this itinerary? We have never traveled in Asia, and thought that it would be amazing to actually...

Guest Review: We Absolutely Loved Bhutan!

Guest Review: We Absolutely Loved Bhutan!
Susan Goldsworthy (three-time alumni!) and Kirk Friedland traveled with us to Bhutan this past January and returned with nothing but rave reviews for the Land of the Thunderdragon . They hiked to the iconic Tiger's Nest, stayed the night in a traditional homestay, and wandered through the glacier-carved valley of Phobjika. Read some of their favorite memories and stories from their adventure below: We absolutely loved Bhutan - what a unique people and culture. There was an overwhelming sense of peace and goodwill throughout the country and the landscape, geography and culture were fascinating. I would rate it as one of my favorite trips and places that I have ever visited.Thank you for an excellent experience! What places or experiences did you enjoy most and why? We loved Phobjika Valley, the black-necked cranes and our stay at Dewachen Lodge - lovely setting and beautiful room. The highlight for me  was the...

I Found Colors in India That I'd Never Seen Before in the Rainbow of Places I've Been To!

I Found Colors in India That I'd Never Seen Before in the Rainbow of Places I've Been To!
Guest review from a custom trip to India : "Better than one in six people on our planet live in India, and four in a hundred live in the U.S. Yet India's conditions are considered extreme, in spite of the fact that as a proportion of the total population they are quite common. I simply wanted to experience the other end of the spectrum of humanity, and though I'm a fairly experienced traveler, I found colors in India that I'd never seen before in the rainbow of places I've been to." Mike and Nani M. spent 3 weeks exploring India on a custom itinerary that took them from the sands of Rajasthan to the banks of the river Ganges to the foothills of the Himalayas. Their trip was initially inspired by the food trail taken by celeb food critic Anthony Bourdain but quickly morphed into a trip encompassing desert palaces, city...
