Family Travel Dreams

My family may be a bit unusual for instead of sweet nothings, my son whispers his travel dreams in my ear. The other day he whispered “Egypt”, “Denmark”, "India". I looked at him quizzically. He explained these are countries he wants to visit. Naturally I was curious as to why these disparate places particularly and I learned the answers: Egypt due to a series of fiction books he is reading by Ric Riordan starting with “The Red Pyramid” , Denmark to make a pilgrimage to Lego headquarters, and India because his mom plans trips there. I enjoy introducing my favorite destinations to Benjamin, so I have recruited him to help me lead our Escorted South India Family Adventure in April 2014. Come join us! We will be hiking in coffee-covered hills, searching for elephants in a nature reserve, floating on peaceful rivers, looking up at 57-foot statue of a Jain Lord and building...

When planning a trip make sure to SPEAK UP!

When planning a trip it is good to sit around the computer for a few minutes and make a ‘wish list’ of what you would like to do and see during the trip. If we do not offer it on one of our group program we are happy to design an custom trip for you, it is normally no more than 5-7% more expensive.  It might be your only vacation week of the year and together we can make it as perfect as possible. You might realize that your 7 year old is really into butterflies and your 9 year old can’t wait to do a zip line canopy tour.  Haven’t grandpa never received a spa treatment, treat him with one!  Do you enjoy cooking and want to learn how to make Gallo Pinto?  We will set it up for you to have a blast cooking the rice and beans recipe....

My Love Of Travel and Traveling With My Love

At the risk of getting mocked by my own staff, I'll admit it here and now: I got wildly inspired to share my world of adventure travel from Robert Redford's character as Denys Finch Hatton in the 1985 movie Out of Africa. When Denys takes Karen Blixen up in the biplane to fly over the African savanna and out on safari in Kenya I knew that's what I wanted to do when I found the love of my life: to share my spirit for adventure and love of wild places. So, after I started Wildland Adventures one year after the movie was released and met Anne one year after that, I had my "Finch Hatton moment"  to plan my own wild honeymoon adventure. Women swoon over this scene when Fitch Hatton shampoos Karen's hair in camp. Guys, we can help you create these kinds of moments that will put your love on cloud...

Romantic Travel to Costa Rica

romantic-travel-costa-rica Romance in Costa Rica
Planning honeymoons can be a lot of fun! As Wildland Adventures Central America Program Director I do a lot of custom trip planning, but for honeymoons it’s always an even more personal experience directing travelers to the most romantic destinations and planning their dream romantic getaway! I think it is very important to get to know the person planning the honeymoon in order to understand their dreams and expectations of the perfect honeymoon.A “Wild Style” honeymoon is more than a romantic getaway. You not only enjoy solitude, fun and relaxation, but we create opportunities for introspection that allow couples to pause and connect on a deeper level. Not only will you feel the charge of your own connectedness, but our intention is to help you create memories of a shared vision of our interconnectedness to nature and humanity, to a life that is much greater than us. In this way we create...

New Adventures in Central America

As Wildland Adventures Central America program director I'm excited to share what's new in our lineup for Central America this year. Take a look at where and why we added a few amazing trips for 2013. Costa Rica The Osa Peninsula Wildland Adventure is a pretty new and unique Costa Rica Vacation that focuses on the southern Pacific coast. We cover the Northern area of the Park (Drake Bay and San Pedrillo Station), the Central area (Sirena Station which is the heart of the National Park) and the Southern part of the National Park (Salsipuedes, La Leona, Carate) and of course time to explore the Lapa Rios private rainforest reserve. I personally don’t know of any company that offers a trip involving 3 of the main stations of the Corcovado National Park from an upscale point of view but also with an option to stay a night or two longer at the Sirena station where...
