The Importance of Music & Dance in Cuban Culture

cuban-dance-project-two
Some of the most treasured experiences I've had when traveling are musical and artistic encounters. When I was in Rwanda, a dance group of teenagers gave us a magical performance of their traditional dances and in Tanzania, a group of Maasai women taught me their traditional jump dance which ended in hugs. After 10 years of traveling all ...

Get Ready for an Incredibly Special Experience in Bhutan - Family Guest Review

Get Ready for an Incredibly Special Experience in Bhutan - Family Guest Review
A three generation family of intrepid travelers recently returned from an unforgettable trip to Bhutan with nothing but glowing reviews for the land of the thunderdragon. Sabra, Hawkins, and Indigo are an active family who were looking to travel to Bhutan to experience the culture of this remote mountain kingdom, go hiking in the foothills of the Himalayas, and immerse themselves in Buddhism. They found all this and more as you can see from their comments below: Please comment on the enthusiasm, professionalism, or other qualities of your local guides: Sherab Zangmo - who my son named "Sherif" the first day - was absolutely amazing. She was very knowledgable, full of interesting information, always enthusiastic, made adjustments according to our needs, took great care of us - no words can express our gratitude for her. Still So Excited by the Huge Variety of Birds We Were Able to Capture on Film

Still So Excited by the Huge Variety of Birds We Were Able to Capture on Film
This adventurous couple just returned from a 17-day customized Manu Wildlife Safari Overland Adventure . After visiting Cusco, The Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, several areas of the Amazon, the Colca Canyon and Arequipa, see what wisdom they have to share! “The trip was amazing; it enabled us to see many aspects of Peru--from Machu Picchu that we had heard so much about to the huge variety of animals (especially birds!) We really enjoyed the overall impression of Peru--so many aspects! We loved all the ruins and terraces that illustrated how vast the Inca influence was and surprisingly how much was pre-Inca. Fascinating to see how much remains the same. Two of our favorite experiences were: 1) The Amazonia Lodge en route to Manu National Park- there were so many great birds! 2) In Arequipa, we saw "juanita", the ice maiden: definitely worth it—fascinating!   Our guides were good! Vignor was very...

"We nearly hijacked the gulet!"

"We nearly hijacked the gulet!"
You know a trip has gone well when the travelers nearly mutiny and refuse to leave! That was the resounding message we received from our October guests onboard the season's last Turquoise Coast Odyssey , beginning with arrival to Istanbul on 4 October and ending with a very reluctant departure on the 18th. In between, 12 exceedingly happy travelers strolled through Istanbul's historic Sultanahmet district, spent 3 beautiful days exploring the underground cities of Cappadocia, hiking the lush river valleys and floating above the iconic fairy chimneys in a hot air balloon at dawn. But it was when they boarded the Kaya Guneri II gulet that things got really interesting! Said multiple-time Wildland Adventures Alumni traveler Denise Hastings: The sailing was great! The boat was perfect, cabins are great with plenty of space, nice bathrooms. There was plenty of space to relax on deck, too. The crew was exceptional, and the...
