A Very Unique Wildlife Experience

A Very Unique Wildlife Experience
Two of our alumni travelers just returned from a customized Manu Wildlife Safari adventure in Peru and share their thoughts on several aspects of the trip below: "FAVORITE EXPERIENCES: The one day KM 104 hike up to Machu Picchu via the Sun Gate was the perfect way to enter the site for the first time. Hardly any one else on the trail, plenty of interesting info from our guide as we hiked. Great experience as one finally gets to the top and suddenly looks down on Machu Picchu. The macaw clay lick was also exceptional...a very unique wildlife experience. ON GUIDES: Both our guides William in Manu and Reuben in the Sacred Valley were excellent...Reuben in particular. I really enjoyed the fact that they shared information about their own lives and experiences with us. Both shared their experiences with the Shining Path, for instance. Lots of jokes and laughter ON ACCOMMODATIONS:...

The Best Trip So Far!

The Best Trip So Far!
"We have used Wildland for two of our previous trips- each being a very pleasant experience, but this custom Peru trip was the best so far! Every place on this trip has been amazing. Really. With wonderful guides who really care about our having a great time definitely made a difference. At the Cruz del Condor, we weren't having much luck with condor sightings and although we told our guide Betty that it was not a big deal, she was determined to get us at least one sighting. When we did end up seeing the condors- which was indeed spectacular- it was an even greater experience because our guide was so happy that we got a chance to see it. Her enthusiasm was very influential to our experience. Our 2 main guides (Betty and Carlos) were superb! They were very passionate about their country and were very intuitive when it came...

Martian Landscapes and Scenic Beauty: Blown Away by Atacama

Martian Landscapes and Scenic Beauty: Blown Away by Atacama
Arriving in the Atacama Desert this October, I was speechless as the plane began to descend into Calama, the region's capitol. The austere and Martian desert stretched out in every direction and was accented with epic snowcapped volcanoes in shades of fiery orange and rusty red; the salt flats beckoned to the east while smaller, salt mountains signaled the mouth of the Moon Valley to the south. Met at the airport, by my  Explora Atacama hosts, I was given my introduction to this remote region of Chile. “The first European explorers to reach what is now known as the Atacama Desert were drawn by tales of a land rich in gold located somewhere south of the Inca Empire. It was due to this quest that the Spanish conquistador, Diego de Almagro, after a perilous journey across the Andes Mountains, became the first European adventurer to arrive in Chile and set foot...

A Great Trip We Will Cherish for a Lifetime!

A Great Trip We Will Cherish for a Lifetime!
Daryl and his grandson just returned from a customized Sacred Lands of the Incas adventure where they not only visited Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, they added on time doing a fly-over of the Nazca lines and sand boarding on the high dunes surrounding Ica, in the wine country of Peru.  "Our trip was outstanding in all respects, starting with the various guides and including the accommodations. Machu Picchu was of course the highlight. I came away both amazed by what I witnessed and convinced they had backhoes and frontend loaders in the 1500’s. I just can’t imagine they could do it any other way. The Nazca lines were impressive although a disappointment for my grandson, as he is vision impaired and was unable to see them.........I had been concerned about that from the beginning. He bounced back though and had an amazing time the next day on...

All Around Asia

1000-lighting-group-at-Saturday-corner
Carla and Stan took a meandering and adventurous custom trip through Vietnam, Myanmar,  Malaysia, and Singapore. They traveled from North to South In Vietnam , cycling through the old quarter of Hanoi, kayaking in Halong Bay, and visiting the Cu Chi tunnels in Ho Chi Minh. From there, they flew to the mystical land of Myanmar where they wandered the ancient temples of Bagan, bathed with elephants in the jungles of Kalaw, and toured the unique biosphere of Inle Lake by boat. Then it was off to sample the tastes of Malaysia with an emphasis on beach time on the UNESCO island of Langkawi. A final stop at the city-state of Singapore brought their 31-day trip to an end although it will remain an inspiration for all of us planning trips to Asia .  Hear it from Carla and Stan: " It was another amazing adventure from Wildland and we met...
