When planning a trip to Southeast Asia  finding the right accommodations can be a struggle. Here are some of our absolute favorite properties in the SE Asian region. They're unique and offer our travelers a way to spend time in areas of the world few get to explore. Relax in luxury in the middle of the Bornean rainforest or scout for komodo dragons from the deck of your Indonesian phinisi. Wake up to a kiss from a baby elephant in Thailand's Golden Triangle or gallop across the Thar desert on a breed of horses indigenous to the area. Beaches, jungles, mountains, and desert - find whatever strikes your fancy and plan your escape! Borneo Rainforest Lodge – Access to this jungle lodge is by 4 wheel drive vehicle and will have you questioning whether you’ve accidentally stepped onto the set of Jurassic Park. Meet Your Guides: Anand Sinha

Meet Your Guides: Anand Sinha
Namascar! More often than not the highlight of  adventure trips to India is the guides. How well a guide gets along with you, a Wildland traveler, can make or break a trip. Wildland puts a lot of effort into finding the best guides for every area that we travel to. Wildland focuses on using local guides in each area, ensuring that these guides possess a seemingly unlimited wealth of knowledge about their area of expertise. The last time I traveled to India I compiled a list of questions so we could all get to know our Wildland guides a little better. I met Anand Sinha at Jamtara, a lodge in the tiger park of Pench, and it was obvious immediately that he knew his stuff. He taught me the word "crepuscular" - active at dawn and dusk- and English isn't even his first language! Anand's big smile and seemingly infinite knowledge...

Is Travel to Peru Safe?

Is Travel to Peru Safe?

The pleasures of trekking in the Andean highlands surrounded by the sheer geographic splendor and unique cultures that call the high Andes home,...

Happy New Year from Siem Reap!

Happy New Year from Siem Reap!
The Doehring family just returned from a Southeast Asia adventure that started in 2015 and spanned Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. They didn't even return to the states until 2016 :) Starting in Northern Vietnam the Doehrings explored the countryside by bike, Halong Bay by boat, and Hanoi by street food vendor (the best way to do it!) After Vietnam, they jetted over to Luang Prabang in Laos where they learned about rice production and spent 2 full days living and interacting with elephants at the Elephant Conservation Center .  Paul says, " Luang Prabang is a beautiful city and one I could see myself living in. The architecture, the food, the people - everything was great!" Janet emebellished on the rice experience saying, "I'll never take rice for granted again!"  The Doehrings continued on to Southern Laos and explored the 4,000 islands. It's a  quick hop from there to Cambodia where...
