Myanmar is spectacular!

Myanmar is spectacular!
A group of 6 intrepid travelers just traveled through Myanmar together and had a blast! Here's Judy to tell us a little bit about it: "We loved our trip. Myanmar is a wonderful place to visit. The people are kind, inquisitive, helpful and beautiful. The food is amazing. The country is spectacular. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to discover a country unspoiled by tourists. But that will only last a couple of more years, so get there quickly!" All Around Asia

1000-lighting-group-at-Saturday-corner
Carla and Stan took a meandering and adventurous custom trip through Vietnam, Myanmar,  Malaysia, and Singapore. They traveled from North to South In Vietnam , cycling through the old quarter of Hanoi, kayaking in Halong Bay, and visiting the Cu Chi tunnels in Ho Chi Minh. From there, they flew to the mystical land of Myanmar where they wandered the ancient temples of Bagan, bathed with elephants in the jungles of Kalaw, and toured the unique biosphere of Inle Lake by boat. Then it was off to sample the tastes of Malaysia with an emphasis on beach time on the UNESCO island of Langkawi. A final stop at the city-state of Singapore brought their 31-day trip to an end although it will remain an inspiration for all of us planning trips to Asia .  Hear it from Carla and Stan: " It was another amazing adventure from Wildland and we met...

At the time I was a travel neophyte, but quickly getting a heady dose of the globe while sailing around the world with Semester at Sea. Ours was the first sailing to visit Yangon since the 1997 US embargo and it felt rebellious and a little dangerous to step off that boat and onto the marshy banks of the Irrawaddy River. Men on mopeds wearing long, tube skirts that I didn’t yet know were longyis and drivers of rusted WWII era freight trucks hauling enormous trunks of teak trees pulled over to gaze curiously at the large ship. Our vessel was alone and seemingly out of place at the small antiquated river jetty. Tourism wasn’t happening in Burma at the time. Unlike the ports we had embarked upon...
