Crafting your own itinerary is really the way to go!
Marilyn and Steve, along with their friends Tom and Betlyn, just returned from a customized adventure exploring the top sites of Patagonia. Beginning in Santiago, they continued on to a luxurious and active jaunt in Torres del Paine at Explora Lodge, glacier viewing in El Calafate, sunset sailing in Bariloche and finishing in Buenos Aires with time to catch a live jazz show and test out their tango skills! Marilyn recounts their experience below.“I am just now getting a moment to write about the trip…Bottom-line: it was fabulous! The concept of crafting an itinerary and identifying where and how much time you spend is really the way to go - I just cannot imagine being “captive” on a scheduled tour anymore! Meeting the local guides at each stop was a real treat - Jorge in Santiago, Fernanda in Buenos Aires, Marissa in Bariloche, Pilar in El Calafate, and of course the Explora...

Do Patagonia in The Off Seasons

Do Patagonia in The Off Seasons
Alumni travelers, Dian and Doug, just returned from an extensive hiking adventure in Patagonia. Using our Hiker’s Patagonia Itinerary as the base of their trip, they added on time in Barlioche, Argentina’s little Switzerland, for fishing and more hiking. Below, Dian recounts some the highlights of their trip along with tales of the mighty Patagonian winds and advice for future travelers."Doug and I chose this trip because we wanted to challenge ourselves to hike in Patagonia. We are totally in awe of how well all of the arrangements worked. We are very thankful for all your help. We have traveled with Wildland in the past and for this trip we couldn't have been more prepared.  Our Patagonia accommodations were unique and we loved them. Patagonia Camp is a wonderful place. We loved the hiking. We went on 3 great outings, including hiking the French Valley and the Torres. Wonderful! Estancia Alta...

Rugged Beauty, Remoteness and Lack of People

Rugged Beauty, Remoteness and Lack of People
This couple just returned from a custom trip to Patagonia with their friends. Starting in Santiago, they worked their way down to Torres del Paine National Park for hiking and exploring the environs and then came back north to visit the rustic coastal vineyards.“Torres del Paine national park and all of Patagonia stood out the most to us during this trip because of the rugged beauty, remoteness and the lack of people. Tierra Patagonia was awesome in the true sense of the word!! The staff was extremely professional, friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs. It was an excellent stay. The views from Tierra Patagonia will provide peace and tranquility to me for many, many years. The park was breathtaking and the activities offered were numerous and there were several levels of abilities from which to choose. The guides at Tierra Patagonia were all outstanding and could...

Julie enthusiastically shares some of their personal highlights from the trip below:“We had an awesome trip! Having the tour guides meet us and the transfers was so great- the guide in Buenos Aires (Andrea) and the one in El Calafate were really great; smart, friendly, interesting, informed. In Mendoza, we had 3 different gals.
