Do Patagonia in The Off Seasons

Do Patagonia in The Off Seasons
Alumni travelers, Dian and Doug, just returned from an extensive hiking adventure in Patagonia. Using our Hiker’s Patagonia Itinerary as the base of their trip, they added on time in Barlioche, Argentina’s little Switzerland, for fishing and more hiking. Below, Dian recounts some the highlights of their trip along with tales of the mighty Patagonian winds and advice for future travelers. "Doug and I chose this trip because we wanted to challenge ourselves to hike in Patagonia. We are totally in awe of how well all of the arrangements worked. We are very thankful for all your help. We have traveled with Wildland in the past and for this trip we couldn't have been more prepared.   Our Patagonia accommodations were unique and we loved them. Patagonia Camp is a wonderful place. We loved the hiking. We went on 3 great outings, including hiking the French Valley and the Torres. Wonderful!...

Rugged Beauty, Remoteness and Lack of People

Rugged Beauty, Remoteness and Lack of People
This couple just returned from a custom trip to Patagonia with their friends. Starting in Santiago, they worked their way down to Torres del Paine National Park for hiking and exploring the environs and then came back north to visit the rustic coastal vineyards. “Torres del Paine national park and all of Patagonia stood out the most to us during this trip because of the rugged beauty, remoteness and the lack of people. Tierra Patagonia was awesome in the true sense of the word!! The staff was extremely professional, friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs. It was an excellent stay. The views from Tierra Patagonia will provide peace and tranquility to me for many, many years. The park was breathtaking and the activities offered were numerous and there were several levels of abilities from which to choose. The guides at Tierra Patagonia were all...

Best Meal Ever on the Wine Tour in Mendoza!

Best Meal Ever on the Wine Tour in Mendoza!
Julie and Craig came to us last year wanting to retrace the steps of some of their close friends who had traveled to Argentina with Wildland Adventures the previous year. They had a bit more time than their friends so, not only were they able to soak up the culture in Buenos Aires, drink wine and explore the vineyards in Mendoza and enjoy the estancia life in El Calafate, but, they also got to add on almost an entire week in Torres del Paine filled with epic treks and scenic vistas! Julie enthusiastically shares some of their personal highlights from the trip below: “We had an awesome trip! Having the tour guides meet us and the transfers was so great- the guide in Buenos Aires (Andrea) and the one in El Calafate were really great; smart, friendly, interesting, informed. In Mendoza, we had 3 different gals. We really loved Mariella who...

Charming Hosts and One-of-a-kind Places
This three-time alumni couple just came back from a custom Best of Patagonia trip with an enchanting extension at Iguazu Falls . From boating along-side glaciers around Torres del Paine, to local, traditional family barbeques on the Pampa in El Calafate, to exploring the urban splendors of the ‘Paris of the South’ in Buenos Aires and finally to the steamy jungles surrounding Iguazu, hear some of their stories and favorite memories from their adventure below! “It seemed to take forever to get to Punta Arenas from Portland....you really are at the bottom of the world (almost)! Both of the Singular Santiago and Singular Patagonia hotels were very nice and the ground arrangements worked very well. The Santiago guide was very good and even helped us at the airport to get checked in. We have been very fortunate to have wonderful weather and no rain for over three weeks! The Singular Patagonia...

Mother-Daughter Duo Conquer Patagonia!

Mother-Daughter Duo Conquer Patagonia!
This mother-daughter duo just returned from a custom Hikers Patagonia Adventure in Torres del Paine National Park, Chile and the Fitz Roy area in Los Glaciares National Park, Argentina . Below they share some of their thoughts, highlights and advice from the trip.    "We totally loved our trip! Our hikes with Explora in Torres del Paine and later in El Chalten were terrific! Actually, all of our hiking experiences were outstanding. Perito Moreno and the penguins were awesome too.   Explora was magic and we loved everything about the experience there. Great food, great room with that insane view, great guides, great hikes. It cost a lot but we loved the easy access to everything from there right in the park.   We loved El Chalten. It has a lovely feel to it (a bit like Banff Alberta!). Chalten Suites was lovely—we loved the family owned aspect of it. They...
