Beyond Your Typical Family Safari

Beyond Your Typical Family Safari
I want to introduce to you to the Dolan Family, a family that traveled with us on our Serengeti Family Safari in Tanzania . They wanted an overview of Tanzania and the opportunity to experience the wildlife and cultural aspects of the country. I'm happy to report they accomplished A LOT more than that on their family safari in Tanzania.  I'll let Robin Dolan tell you a little bit about their trip: "We had some amazing, mind boggling experiences and memories like: watching a herd of elephants play in water with babies not knowing how to work their trunks quite right, watching needy kids dance and play and celebrate the things we brought them- truly warming our hearts entirely, warthog mamas hilariously chasing their babies, seeing the beautiful culture, interesting religion and outright poverty that create the ways of life of Tanzanians, monkeys attacking our empty Land Rover almost making off with...

Praise from Tanzania

Praise from Tanzania
An email just came in this morning which made me smile: “Jeff, sipping a glass of wine under my mosquito net in our fabulous camp Maramboi .  I have never seen so many stars in my life, still enjoying the memories of our afternoon in the Tarangire national park where we saw LOTS of elephant, giraffe, zebra, gazelle, wart hogs, a jackal, plenty of birds, antelope, monkeys, mongoose, and more!!!!!! No cats yet but we have a wakeup call for 6:00am tomorrow.  Wonderful news about the upgrade. . . So far everything has exceeded my expectations. . . . My daughter and I are in HEAVEN!!!!!” – Katharine de Barrueta I love getting updates from our travelers in the field, especially when they’re really connecting with the place, people and surrounding environment as you once did. It reminds you of your own fond memories. For me, Katharine’s comments bring back the...

Tanzania Family Safari

Tanzania Family Safari
We were always interested in going on a safari. In 3rd grade, my youngest did a research project on Tanzania and every time we looked something up on the internet, vacation ideas would pop up which got us thinking more about how wonderful it would be! It was exceptional – Haji, our guide, was amazing, the itinerary just right and every experience was so special. We loved the game drives but the experiences with the people were the ones that really touched our whole family. Being with the Maasai was so different and they were incredibly welcoming. It felt so unique and adventurous to be with the Bushmen. The school that we visited was amazing, and the children adorable and curious. Staying at the Simiyu Tented camp was unbelievable, exciting and a little scary. Knowing a buffalo was grazing right outside our tents was crazy! And seeing one 3 feet away...

Tanzania and Rwanda were phenomenal

Tanzania and Rwanda were phenomenal
We had a truly phenomenal trip. Each day brought new adventures and sights and none of us can pinpoint one highlight because there were so many. All 6 of us speak very, very highly of George, our driver/guide in Tanzania . He added to our wonderful experience and we all felt that he should be recognized for his professionalism, knowledge, enthusiasm and fun. He has become our friend. Regarding Tanzania, my husband and I had been before and loved it (2007 with Wildland). But, this trip provided us with a completely different, BETTER experience. George has a lot to do with this and his genuine love for his job, his concern for us to see what we wanted to see (right off the bat on the first full day, he asked us what we wanted to get out of the trip), and his ability to make us feel confident in him....

What a wonderful safari in Tanzania

What a wonderful safari in Tanzania
Working with Wildland Adventures and Jeff was a pleasure. All questions were promptly answered in the planning stages and we were thoroughly prepared for the adventure of a lifetime. We had the right clothes, equipment, and medical preparation. I have never been so well prepared for travel to a specific destination as I was for our safari in Tanzania . There were many highlights and glorious moments - witnessing the birth of a wildebeest, watching a pride of nine lions feasting on a giraffe, watching a hippo saunter by our vehicle, hearing George's exact replication of specific animal sounds, being surrounded by elephants crossing the road, and so many others. Samson and George were phenomenal at spotting animals and birds that were far away. I cannot say enough good words about our guides. They were the stars of our experience in that they added a much greater dimension to the animals,...
