Praise from Tanzania

Praise from Tanzania
An email just came in this morning which made me smile: “Jeff, sipping a glass of wine under my mosquito net in our fabulous camp Maramboi.  I have never seen so many stars in my life, still enjoying the memories of our afternoon in the Tarangire national park where we saw LOTS of elephant, giraffe, zebra, gazelle, wart hogs, a jackal, plenty of birds, antelope, monkeys, mongoose, and more!!!!!! No cats yet but we have a wakeup call for 6:00am tomorrow.  Wonderful news about the upgrade. . . So far everything has exceeded my expectations. . . . My daughter and I are in HEAVEN!!!!!” – Katharine de Barrueta I love getting updates from our travelers in the field, especially when they’re really connecting with the place, people and surrounding environment as you once did. It reminds you of your own fond memories. For me, Katharine’s comments bring back the honey...

Cats of all different kinds

When it comes to Africa aficionados, Mauree Talman tops our list. She has traveled to Africa a whopping five different times with Wildland Adventures, to both Eastern and Southern Africa. She’s visited Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Botswana and South Africa, and recently returned to some of her favorite haunts in East Africa. “This was probably the best Safari I’ve been on (so far)” Mauree says. “I took so many pictures, almost 4000, that I don’t know where to begin. Each time I go thru the photos, I’m reminded of a sighting I forgot, there were so many good ones to remember. When I booked this trip, my goal was to see as many of the big cats as I could. They are my favorite, along with the other predators. So going to the Serengeti and the Mara was perfect. I saw more cats in the first few days of this trip that...

Tanzania and Rwanda were phenomenal

Tanzania and Rwanda were phenomenal
We had a truly phenomenal trip. Each day brought new adventures and sights and none of us can pinpoint one highlight because there were so many. All 6 of us speak very, very highly of George, our driver/guide in Tanzania. He added to our wonderful experience and we all felt that he should be recognized for his professionalism, knowledge, enthusiasm and fun. He has become our friend. Regarding Tanzania, my husband and I had been before and loved it (2007 with Wildland). But, this trip provided us with a completely different, BETTER experience. George has a lot to do with this and his genuine love for his job, his concern for us to see what we wanted to see (right off the bat on the first full day, he asked us what we wanted to get out of the trip), and his ability to make us feel confident in him. We...

What a wonderful safari in Tanzania

What a wonderful safari in Tanzania
Working with Wildland Adventures and Jeff was a pleasure. All questions were promptly answered in the planning stages and we were thoroughly prepared for the adventure of a lifetime. We had the right clothes, equipment, and medical preparation. I have never been so well prepared for travel to a specific destination as I was for our safari in Tanzania. There were many highlights and glorious moments - witnessing the birth of a wildebeest, watching a pride of nine lions feasting on a giraffe, watching a hippo saunter by our vehicle, hearing George's exact replication of specific animal sounds, being surrounded by elephants crossing the road, and so many others. Samson and George were phenomenal at spotting animals and birds that were far away. I cannot say enough good words about our guides. They were the stars of our experience in that they added a much greater dimension to the animals, birds,...

The Safari That Changed My Life

The Safari That Changed My Life
We originally went on a Wildland Adventures trip to Tanzania in 2002. It would be a vast understatement to say that our Wildland Adventure to Africa changed my life. As a child, I had watched Wild Kingdom and other nature programs on TV, but I never imagined that I might one day travel to Africa. My wife, Wendy, arranged our first trip working with Nicole from Wildland Adventures. It was a private tour with our three boys, aged 8, 14, and 16. We were met by a representative at the airport who took us to our hotel, where we subsequently met Ronald our driver and guide. Ronald stayed with us until we departed for Zanzibar. We spent two weeks exploring the Northern Circuit of game parks beginning with Sinya, a private game reserve and ending with six days in the Serengeti. Part of the time we were also accompanied by a...
