Never in my Wildest Dreams

Never in my Wildest Dreams
A short message we got from Diana D. on her Wildland Adventrues Serengeti Wilderness Safari in Tanzania. "I have to say that in all my 'wildest' dreams, I never thought I would actually see a real kill on my trip to Africa. We watched this lioness stalk her prey and before the gazelle knew what happened...... Our guide, Ridas, said it's almost impossible to actually witness such an event. Thanks for the best adventure yet!" Making dreams come true, that's what we do! Have a dream adventure that you want to turn into reality? Contact us and let us make it happen. Here are some more photos from Diana's Seregenti Wilderness Safari Keeping it wild, Wildland Adventures

A Seattle Family, Tanzanian Orphans, and a Van

A Seattle Family, Tanzanian Orphans, and a Van
A story of how miracles can happen When the Whitaker family approached me about an opportunity to give back during her Serengeti Family Safari I was happy to help. What transpired turned into one of the best fairy tale charity stories I’ve had the privilege of being a part of during my career. A real organic outpouring of community spirit inspired by one family’s generosity and desire to directly improve the lives of others.  When a family or group of travelers is interested in making a charitable donation in Tanzania, we often set up a visit to a rural school district. However, the Whitaker family was traveling over the Christmas holiday time period when many of the schools are closed and the children are at home. Through a local colleague we found Elias Japhet and the Pambazuko Orphanage, which he and his wife have been running in the small agricultural town of Mto...

I Wanted To See Cats On My African Safari

I Wanted To See Cats On My African Safari
I’m a 5 time alumni and In October/November of 2013, I took my 5th Safari to Africa: the Best of Serengeti and Masai Mara Safari. This having been my 5th safari, I was selective in the parks I wanted to visit and more specifically, the wildlife I wanted to see and photograph. I wanted to see cats! And of course I saw cats…big cats, little cats, newborn cats, old cats. On the first game drive in the Serengeti, we saw lion, leopard and cheetah. I couldn’t have been happier! In the Mara, I was privileged to see three 2-week old cheetahs, the mother had just brought them out of their hiding spot and we were among the first to see them. And on our last drive, we were able to see cheetah very up close and personal. There are 3 cheetah siblings in the Mara who were taught by their mother...

The Real Gift of Travel - Helping an Orphanage in Tanzania

Once in a while a story comes along that sounds like something out of a fairytale and becomes a true inspiration for us all. Before I tell the tale let me give you the backstory. A few months ago the Whitaker family contacted our Africa Program Director, Jeff Stivers, and asked him to plan a Wildland Adventure to Tanzania over the New Year winter break. The Whitaker's mentioned that their kids like to make a positive local impact when they travel and asked us how they could contribute to one of the local communities they would be visiting. "Help us find out what they really need," they requested from us. After a few calls and a bit of research Jeff discovered a small orphanage called Pambazuko in the town of Mto Wa Mbu that needed some love. Jeff got a hold of the caretaker, Elias, and asked if the Whitaker family...

Differences Between Eastern and Southern Africa

Larger than China, Europe and the United States combined, the African continent is a vast and varied. Deciding where to go in Africa is your first decision when planning your safari. Each destination offers an experience that is unique and awe-inspiring: whether you travel to Eastern Africa or Southern Africa the wildlife will astound you. And on a Wildland Adventures African safari some of your most memorable and meaningful experiences will be among the people you meet traveling with our exceptional guides and sharing stories with indigenous people like the Zulu of South Africa or the Maasai of Kenya and Tanzania. There are many factors to consider in deciding where to go on safari. Our African travel specialists have spent much of their lives on African safari tours. They can help you decide where to go on safari in Africa, and once you know where you want to go they help...
