A Graduate's Gift: Family River Rafting in Costa Rica

Chris, Amy and their kids are experienced travelers who were referred to us by an alumni and were looking for a family adventure in Costa Rica. They wanted a completely different travel experience than they were used to; their son was graduating high school and they gifted him with a trip of his choice. He chose our Pacuare Costa Rica Adventure because of the river rafting and other exciting activities like zip lining. Rafting down class II-IV rapids was a highlight for the whole family and they were blown away by Pacuare Jungle Lodge.

"Rafting down the Pacuare river was one of the biggest highlights of the trip. At some point, we were all out of our comfort zone and that created some great memories and laughs. The river guides Max and Orlha were both fun and safe. Pacuare Lodge was stunning and the food was incredible. Two nights there was perfect. The other lodgings were perfectly suitable but modest after Pacuare!"

The Pacuare Jungle Lodge, my favorite hotel in Costa Rica, is perched on the banks of the Pacuare River. The ecolodge has been recognized as a stand out accommodation worldwide for its sustainability. Their philosophy of simplistic luxury and oneness with nature enhances guest's experience by the romance of operating without electricity. Each spacious suite features a plush couch, solar-heated indoor and outdoor showers, king-sized canopy bed, a large secluded viewing deck with a hammock, and a private dipping pool fed by spring water with a nearly 360º rainforest view!

They loved their guides and had a blast at Arenal Volcano exploring the jungle and  especially Sky Trek, one of the most exhilarating zip-line canopy tours in Costa Rica. The system includes 8 cross-sectional cables with a total length of 1.75 miles elevated 66-660 feet above the ground!

"Our guide, Alex. in Arenal provided an awesome local experience and the beach was just a perfect spot to unwind after a busy 7 days prior. Alex was a part of our family for 3 days and we insisted he join us for every meal."

I love planning trips for families to enjoy together and we are looking forward to planning more trips for them! It can be difficult to find a trip that meets every person's interest and skill level, but I love the challenge and our Pacuare Costa Rica Adventure was exactly what their family wanted.

"It was a perfect family trip for all of our kids (age 18,16,14,12). It helped that our 12-year-old is fearless but we felt safe with all of the activities we did. Wildland Adventures and all of our local guides were warm, welcoming and professional." - Chris and Amy
