Traci and Denise returned recently from a custom trip to Chile. They wanted time to do more challenging trekking in Torres del Paine but also indulge in the luxury that Patagonia Camp has to offer. They ultimately tackled the famous W-trek using Eco-Camp as their base and spent 4 nights in lavish yurts at Patagonia Camp. Beginning and ending in Santiago, they had a magnificent adventure that truly allowed them to soak up the very best of Torres del Paine and Chile’s vibrant capital. Traci and Denise share their experience below:
“Gretchen, Patagonia was amazing!! We have traveled with Wildland before and appreciate your quality of the service. It took some tweaking to get the "perfect" trip planned but you were successful.
Patagonia Camp and Eco Camp are both wonderful and very different. Being in the park itself at Eco Camp was wonderful.
Our guides in Patagonia Camp changed daily, but were all very fun. The best guides of all were at Eco Camp. Jorge and Diego were a great balance of knowledge and humor. We had a large group (12) for the W trek and they managed to keep everyone together and happy!
The Singular in Santiago is amazing. Patagonia Camp is total luxury. Eco Camp is very bohemian, but we felt had the best food.
We wanted to do more than just trek the W, but didn't want to do the O as we like the creature comforts. Being able to spend some time at Patagonia Camp gave us a very well rounded trip.
We have traveled extensively and this trip had to be one of the most comfortable trips we have ever taken. The trek was challenging (in a good way) but the transportation etc was a breeze!
Some advice for future travelers: understand the remoteness of Patagonia. It takes a whole day to travel there (and back). Take seriously the clothing list and spend the money on good, light, layering clothing. And RAIN GEAR (both pants and jackets) are a must! Even on the best days a squall can come through.
Thanks you guys!
