A Graduate's Dream Adventure to Cape Town, Kruger National Park and Victoria Falls

Last December, Hunter came to Wildland Adventures with an idea for creating a special graduation adventure for his grandson, Evan. Knowing the power and value of travel, Hunter had offered Evan an excursion to anywhere in the world as a gift for graduating from high school with distinction; Evan, wisely, chose Southern Africa! A seasoned safari-goer himself, Hunter turned to Wildland to help plan a meaningful and varied trip that would provide a robust cross-section of African culture and wildlife through Cape Town, the greater Kruger National Park, and Victoria Falls. Here are some of his incredible images and thoughts on the trip:

Doug Thomson (Cape Town) was great. The tour of Khayelitsha Township in Cape Town was superb and our guide Thabang excellent. Antony Collett was our main guide at Tanda Tula and was fantastic.

The Peech Hotel in Johannesburg was superior; sorry it was only one night. Our only mistake was to insist on a day for history and apartheid experiences; Cape Town was a far better experience for these purposes. Jo'burg probably could have been OK with more time.

Ilala Lodge at Victoria Falls was exactly what we wanted - not quite as elegant as Vic Falls River Lodge would have been (based on photos), but a perfect location. We were very glad to be a 10 min walk to the falls, with good shopping, and restaurants…. impeccable ambiance and service for day visitors, beautiful setting.
