A Mother & Daughter Wine Tasting in Spain

A Mother & Daughter Wine Tasting in Spain
This October I went on a mother/daughter wine and culinary trip to the Basque Country of Spain. My mom and I had never been to Spain together and thought this trip would be perfect for us because it contained two very important things... wine and food . First off, flying is not on my list of favorite things to do. However, I do love spending time with my Mom and drinking wine. So, I jumped on an airplane for what I knew would be a trip filled with new and wonderful experiences.  Since this was a wine and culinary tour there wasn’t the rush of adventure as in zip lining or wildlife safari’s - the adventure for me was seeing a new place with my mom, trying new foods and seeing the wine making process. My favorite thing that we did was in San Sebastián; a really fun cooking class where...

The best travel moments are accidental

The best travel moments are accidental
While wandering in the small alleys of Mykonos Island I came upon this older gentleman resting and watching pedestrians pass by. To me this moment captured the relaxed atmosphere I was so enjoying in Greece, so I set up to take a perfect photo, Click and oops – I got photo bombed! As the photo-bomber approached I showed him his photo and he explained he is a photo-bomb expert. A while later after perusing the local shops, I peeked into to one of the inviting cafes that lined the street. In this area, called Little Venice, the restaurants are on a cliff directly over the Aegean Sea. Stunning! I get ready to snap another photo and who do I see but my photo-bomber! He calls out to say this means we must meet. So this is how Benjamin and I met Yanni visiting Mykonos from Northern Greece with his brother, Vasilli,...

Having a great time in Turkey

Having a great time in Turkey
We love getting little notes from our travelers while they are still on their trip! Laura, Jan and I are having a great time in Turkey. Our guides have all been very professional, as well as friendly; the food has been delicious at all the restaurants they've selected, and the sights have been splendid. I don't want to forget to add that the hotels have all been really special. Dave and Jan are traveling on our Highlights of Turkey Adventure Photo is of Jan and their Turkey guide Deniz Killic

All three generations had a wonderful time

All three generations had a wonderful time
Guest review for a private family Voyage Among the Dodecanses of Greece and Turkey.   To get straight to the bottom line, the trip was an overwhelming success. It exceeded even my own expectations -- which were very, very high. All three generations had a wonderful time. This was tied for the best trip we have taken with Wildland -- right up there with Peru/Amazon. We all just loved Turkey, and actually are seriously thinking about returning next year to see more of the country. Thanks for planning such an amazing family adventure . There were so many highlights, but the gulet was probably the best. It was extremely relaxing and unstructured, and there was something to do for everyone. The crew really pampered us. There were lots of long faces in our group when our week on the gulet came to an end. Another highlight was the Nisanyan Village Hotel we...

Finding The Heart of Turkey

Finding The Heart of Turkey
This week we heard back from Christine Ye and Jeffery Marso who spent 2 weeks in Turkey with their daughters on our new Heart of Turkey Family Adventure which includes a 2 night stay at a village south of Cappadocia. They really enjoyed the homestay and their guide who joined them there. “My favorite experience was the home stay.  I loved the small town atmosphere.  The people were so friendly, generous and welcoming in the villages as well as at our homestay. Fondest Homestay memories:  I got up early most mornings to run before the others got up.   One morning I ran into town and was greeted by a small herd of goats with 2 women herding them.  Even the goats were friendly!  They swarmed around me  eyeing me with curiosity while the women tried to coax them back onto the road.  We were all laughing and enjoying the encounter....
