Our 27 Years of Rumba Around The World

Our 27 Years of Rumba Around The World
Valentine's Day is our wedding anniversary, so here's a little homage to Anne.     I met Anne at a Bochinche salsa concert at Seattle's annual Bumbershoot music festival. And do you know the first word out of her mouth that she said to me, "No." And the next five words were, "I said, no, didn't I?" (I won't repeat my lame pickup line.) Then on our first date, a picnic in a local park, I forgot my wallet when we were buying some deli items so she had to write a check. In spite of myself, 27 years of rumba around the world since then has spun many tales of romance, adventure, and an ever growing family here in Seattle and in so many friends and families in communities and homes the world over.     In those days when we were just starting out I planned an adventure honeymoon...

How I got engaged on safari in South Africa

How I got engaged on safari in South Africa
I have known Jeff Stivers since high school. We booked our custom South Africa safari with Wildland because of him but he and other staff took a lot of time to craft a unique and personalized experience full of authentic and unforgettable moments.I wanted to safari in Africa with my girlfriend and propose to her, and share a lasting memory on an amazing trip to start our time together. Jeff's intimate knowledge of our travel sites, as well as his personal friendship with our lodge's owners, led to a perfect proposal. He crafted the perfect engagement, from sunrise to sunset. We were treated to a private bush walk to view my fiance's favorite animal, a sunset, candle-lit dinner with champagne at the lodge's secluded bird hide, and most importantly, the perfect moment to propose. I can honestly say that Wildland's staff gave us the perfect engagement! We loved our experience at Tanda...

Honeymoon was beyond my expectations

Honeymoon was beyond my expectations
Hi Jeff,I must say the trip was beyond my expectation. We had a blast and we will definitely book again with Wildland. The first two locations were wow. Especially the staff in Thonga were extremely nice and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic. In our opinion this was the best place in regards of food. We saw whales, did kayaking, enjoyed the beach, snorkeling, etc.The second location, Phinda Mountain Lodge, was absolutely amazing. Our ranger Tobi was just great. He was so into it. He was very enthusiastic, energetic, friendly, educational, etc. The game viewing was spectacular - we saw the big five up close within 24 hours. The best part was seeing the lions feeding from a zebra. It was very personal and exclusive. That was what we were looking for.Our South Africa Honeymoon Safari was absolutely fantastic. Thank you for the very detailed planning and organization.Jan Lehmann, Germany Looking to plan a...

4 Romantic Spots in Turkey

4 Romantic Spots in Turkey
1. The Bosphorus has been the center of Istanbul for ions and a cruise to one of the water-side restaurants there is a romantic pleasure. Take a local ferry to a high-end neighborhood such as Bebek to walk on the boardwalk and dine in a fabulous seafood restaurant such as Bebek Balıkçısı or Eleos in Beyoğlu.     2. Drink wine in an ancient theater. On our Turquoise Coast Odyssey, we like to stop for a glass of wine and perhaps a song or poetry in Simena, dating from the 4th century BC. How romantic to enjoy sunset while looking out to the Mediteranean.      3. The very streets of Kaş are romantic with bourgainevilla flowers blooming on blue-shuttered buidlings, cobblestone streets, and the bright blue sea . Spend the evening with dinner at a local restaurant on the Medan, town square, watching children play and other couples stroll by....
