Getting Romantic in the Galápagos

Working in the adventure travel industry you come across some incredible places and hear some pretty amazing stories. Today I wanted to share an incredible place with an amazing story. The photo above is of the Galápagos Safari Camp on Santa Cruz Island and I think it might be the most romantic spot I've been to. This past spring I had the opportunity to travel to Ecuador and stay at the Galápagos Safari Camp for a few nights and it was a truly remarkable experience. I have stayed in some luxury hotels around the world and I would choose staying in a safari camp like this over a 5* luxury hotel in the middle of a city any day of the week.First off you get to be out in nature and you really can't beat that! Second the tents are awesome, it is like staying in a really nice hotel but you get to...

Wildland took the stress out of our Belize honeymoon

Belize-adventure-travel
We aren't the type of people that can sit on the deck of a cruise ship for 10 days, drinking boat drinks (although we have no objection to boat drinks), and call it a honeymoon.  So a trip to Belize was perfect for us!  It gave us the perfect balance of adventure travel and tropical destination.  We spent part of our time exploring underground caves through Mayan sacred spaces and seeing the remains of their great cities. Those days were ideally complimented with time on the coast, as beach bums, snorkelers,  fly fisherman (and woman), and generally getting pampered.  It was just the right balance of culture and comfort.   Wildland took the stress out of adventure travel.  At Black Rock Lodge, we ate dinner with a different couple each night.  Each of them told stories of how difficult it was for them to get to this part of Belize.  These stories included...

The Trick to Romance in Adventure Travel

The trick to keeping the romance is eliminating the stress. Those DIY adventure travelers out there know that getting to that romantic spot can sometimes be a lot of work, and it may or may not pan out the way you've intended.  The only thing you should be worrying about on a romantic getaway is soaking up the incredible views, experiencing the local culture and spending quality time with your partner. That’s the idea behind all of our specially designed romantic vacations. We take care of the when, where and how so you can focus on the WOW. Our recently developed Romantic Belize Vacation was put together for young honeymooning couples. Those folks that want to be active, see Mayan ruins, explore crystalline caves, the Belize jungle and snorkel the Belize Barrier reef, all while staying at fun and affordable lodges where you also have the opportunity to relax and just be together. That’s the...

My Love Of Travel and Traveling With My Love

At the risk of getting mocked by my own staff, I'll admit it here and now: I got wildly inspired to share my world of adventure travel from Robert Redford's character as Denys Finch Hatton in the 1985 movie Out of Africa. When Denys takes Karen Blixen up in the biplane to fly over the African savanna and out on safari in Kenya I knew that's what I wanted to do when I found the love of my life: to share my spirit for adventure and love of wild places. So, after I started Wildland Adventures one year after the movie was released and met Anne one year after that, I had my "Finch Hatton moment"  to plan my own wild honeymoon adventure. Women swoon over this scene when Fitch Hatton shampoos Karen's hair in camp. Guys, we can help you create these kinds of moments that will put your love on cloud...

Romantic Travel to Costa Rica

romantic-travel-costa-rica Romance in Costa Rica
Planning honeymoons can be a lot of fun! As Wildland Adventures Central America Program Director I do a lot of custom trip planning, but for honeymoons it’s always an even more personal experience directing travelers to the most romantic destinations and planning their dream romantic getaway! I think it is very important to get to know the person planning the honeymoon in order to understand their dreams and expectations of the perfect honeymoon.A “Wild Style” honeymoon is more than a romantic getaway. You not only enjoy solitude, fun and relaxation, but we create opportunities for introspection that allow couples to pause and connect on a deeper level. Not only will you feel the charge of your own connectedness, but our intention is to help you create memories of a shared vision of our interconnectedness to nature and humanity, to a life that is much greater than us. In this way we create...
