Africa is considered by most people to be " off-the-beaten path,"  with its vast deserts and jungles, but just how far into it would you explore? Our favorite, most remote adventure in East Africa is definitely the Wild Western Tanzania Safari . You start out in the well-known Serengeti, home to the...

Where to go on Safari in Africa Part 1: East Africa

Where to go on Safari in Africa Part 1: East Africa
Africa is HUGE! How huge? You could stuff the USA, Mexico, Peru, China, and India inside its borders and still have room for Japan, New Zealand, Nepal, Bangladesh and ALL of Europe with room to spare!! The continent is vast and varied, to say the least. Deciding where to go in Africa is your first decision when planning your safari. Marveling at gorgeous animals and amazing scenery every day in Tanzania

Marveling at gorgeous animals and amazing scenery every day in Tanzania
Bob, Carol, Michael and Leslie chose Wildland Adventures to plan their custom Tanzania safari last November. Highlights of the trip included both Tarangire National Park and the Serengeti. It also included the less-visited but equally impressive Ruaha and Selous game reserves in southern Tanzania. “I couldn't have been more prepared…You were willing to have extended discussions about details of camera equipment, what to take, descriptions of accommodations, etc.” All the camera preparation paid off with these up-close images that Michael was able to capture. “We loved Tarangire in part because it was first, also due to excellent guiding by Kevin. He is a gem! We saw a cheetah and a leopard kill first day! His knowledge on birds and animals is outstanding. The Serengeti is simply fabulous for what it is! We saw dozens and dozens of animals, with great guide location and access, patience and humor.” “A once in...

Happy Holidays to each and all

Happy Holidays to each and all
We received this delightful holiday letter from a family of alumni travelers and felt it was too good not to share: "This year a 17 day Tanzanian Safari with Wildland Adventures exceeded our greatest expectations. We spent long, full days in Arusha, Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti National Parks where the extraordinary teeming abundance of wildlife led to up close and personal encounters with lions (100+), elephants, leopards, cheetah and way too many wildebeest , hippos, giraffes, impala, ect , to count.  And we had a private tour!  Our driver-guide spotted game at every turn while driving in our open top Toyota Land Cruiser on Tanzania's infamous roads. In addition to wildlife sightings, we had fascinating encounters with a few of the 120 tribal groups, including a walkabout with the primitive Hadzabe hunter/gatherers as they sought game with bow and arrows. Seeing a snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro as we left...
