Carla and Stan have been on six Wildland Adventures including Jordan, Ecuador, East Africa, SE Asia, Argentina and now Colombia. Like so many Wildland guests who are very well-traveled and appreciate our Wild Style of travel, take Carla's word for it when she recommends Colombia so highly and the experience we designed for them:
"If travel to Colombia isn't on your bucket list, add it. Just like all their other adventures, Wildland's Colombia adventure takes you off the beaten path enough to feel like you are seeing the real Colombia while still ensuring you also see the tourist hot spots."
"A guide really makes the trip - Nico, our guide in Medellin is an amazing guide who took advantage of every opportunity that presented itself to help us experience his country. He stopped at a cattle market in a small rural town on the way to El Pinol, which was definitely not on the itinerary but was one of the highlights of the trip and a very Colombian experience. In the Comuna 13 neighborhood, he introduced us to a young street artist named Chotaiz, who was starting a new mural and a few weeks later after we returned home Nico sent us a picture of the finished piece. Nico was really amazing, and made it a priceless experience."
"Other highlights from the trip included: A morning at an organic farm collecting ingredients for lunch and then cooking in an open-air kitchen with an amazing chef. An afternoon learning about old construction methods and actually making mud brinks with a local farmer that he will use to build an extension to his home. Sitting in a tiny bar with locals at the edge of a cliff watching the sunset over the Andes (and you are the only foreigners there)."
"Colombia has amazing vista's, more animal species than any other country in the world and amazing food. Colombians are welcoming to visitors and so proud of their country. If you show interest in learning more they are keen to share their experiences with you. Plan your trip to Colombia now, before the rest of the world discovers how fabulous it is. And don't forget to play Tejo."
(And what is "Tejo" you ask? The official game in the Colombian countryside that typically involves gunpowder and beer. Watch here Anthony Bourdain show.)
