The Dukers just returned from one of our newest trips, Highlights of Colombia, and shared their favorite moments and photos with us.
"Camillo Ortega, our guide, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and tailored activities to fit us. We enjoyed Bogota and taking the funicular up to Monserrate. This should be on every tour of Bogota, although some people might consider walking to the top. We enjoyed the extensive tour and exotic fruit tasting at the market, which was very fun, and a tour of the Botero Museum. During our stay in Bogota, we had a great lunch/dinner at Ocio Cocina Autoctona, which specializes in Colombian foods from the different regions of the country; definitely a must visit! At Terracotta pottery we got to see the master artist at work and everyone got some clay and a wheel to practice their potting skills."
"We also enjoyed Medellin, and the beautiful town of Villa de Levya. In Mt. Monserrate, we did a great hike from Barichara to Guane that was beautiful and peaceful, with lots to see including birds and butterflies. White water rafting was fun and was followed by a nice lunch prepared by the rafting staff. This adventure should definitely be included in trips to this area! Christen was our white water rafting guide and he was very professional and instilled confidence while making the trip fun. We enjoyed El Roble Hacienda tour and in Raquina, we met with school kids camping there and had a great experience "conversing" with them. We had a nice morning mountain bike in Barichara which including a visit to Camilo's family's home near the interesting Terracotta House, which was a great place to visit."
"Discovering the history of Colombia was fascinating and all the guides had a thorough and passionate way of sharing their country. We didn't anticipate how beautiful and diverse the country would be." - The Dukers
