Greetings from the deep bush of Africa! My first week back in Africa has been a whirlwind tour through Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. I've visited lodges, seen an incredible amount of wildlife and met so many friendly and welcoming people. In the past five days I've scouted 13 different lodges and camps to help discover some new and authentic places for our travelers to stay and visit in Zimbabwe. Seeing all the properties we choose for our trips and meeting the people behind them has helped me understand why our safaris in Africa are award-winning.
My highlights have been close encounters with elephants drinking out of the swimming pool at Nehimba, stalking Cape Buffalo at Camelthorn, close viewing of a pair of cheetah before boarding the elephant express out of the park for my Zambia safari.
I'm currently ensconced at Chundukwa Lodge and being very well taken care of by the owners Gail and Doug. My chalet on stilts over the Zambezi with breathtaking views of dawn breaking over the river. I was awoken by grunting hippos and hollering baboons.
Last night at Chundukwa Lodge, there was a family staying here who was surprised by a chocolate cake for the Dad's birthday. After blowing out his candle, I realized it was Wildland clients who were just finishing up their South Africa Safari and Victoria Falls Extension I had planned for them! They had an amazing time and had nothing but positive things to say. They were really astounded that I was here and (lucky for me) shared some birthday cake. So very rewarding to run into guests and get such positive feedback!
Wish you all could be here to adventure with me!
