Guest Review: "Greetings from Peru!"
Peru has always been a favorite family destination here at Wildland. For the intrepid family, it offers vibrant culture, active adventure, history, and delicious food all in one country. Natalie and her family came to us looking to combine a trip to Peru with a service trip she was doing in Costa Rica with her two daughters. I had a great time helping them design an extensive, three-week trip through the Sacred Valley, Lake Titicaca, and the Amazon. We become just as attached to the itineraries we help create as our travelers do so it was a wonderful surprise to receive this update from the Botto family as they prepared to leave Peru to head back home:
"Peru has been amazing! The people, the history, and the diverse landscapes, from the Amazon jungle to the ancient Inca ruins, to the height of over 4000 meters at Lake Titikaka, have been breathtaking and very inspiring. What an adventure. We have been traveling by long-boat in the Amazon, by mountain bike in the Urubamba Valley, by foot on the Inca trail and by kayaking on Lake Titikaka to a remote island called Taquile. We spent two days there hiking and observing a fascination village celebration of music, dance, and culture. Thanks for all your recommendation in helping us put this super exciting trip together!" With love from Peru, Natalie & family
Exploring the Amazon Jungle from up high in the canopy observing parrots and listening to howler monkeys.
We loved Cusco with its narrow cobble stone streets, colorful-mirror churches, and the weaving together of past and present influences.
In the Urubamba Valley we had a chance to pass by small farms and villages as well as the thousands of ancient salt pools of Maras.
At Lake Titikaka we explored the Uros Tortora reed islands and stayed with a local family on the shore of the largest navigable lake in the world.
To end the Inca Trail at Intipunku (Gate of the Sun) and behold the ruins of Machu Picchu was mesmerizing.
Mountains of colorful Peruvian fabric that express the hope and survival of past history and culture woven into present life and seen on women's back all over the Andes mountains and beyond.
I love getting pictures from travelers and sharing in their adventures! Questions? Give us a call at 800-345-4453.
