Wildland prides itself on making local connections and supporting the communities we visit. One of the best ways we can do this is through partnering with local guides who have grown up in these different areas and know what makes them truly special. As Amit, our India contact states, "India is a land of experiences. You may have come 10 times to India, but it is based on the person who shows you India that will make all the difference. This person should become your best friend by Day 2."
That's why we were so happy to receive a review from Wildland alums Faye and Lee Younker who recently traveled with us to Southern India (round 2 after they traveled to Northern India with us in 2012!) They had a wonderful time traveling through the national parks, cities, and backwaters of southern India, but what really struck us was this comment:
"We have been traveling over 25 years with 2 to sometimes 3 international trips a year with a variety of companies. Harendra is right at the top of the list of guides we have had and we have had some very good ones over the years. He is enthusiastic, passionate, professional and overall just a pleasure to travel with. He almost felt like family at the end of the trip."
This kind of personal connection is what we strive to achieve with every trip we plan. I'd like to introduce you all to Harendra, a truly special guide that we have the privilege of working with on our trips to India.
Harendra was born in Bharatpur, India at the edge of a National Bird Sanctuary. He cannot remember a time in his life when he was not a nature lover. Harendra has undergone intensive Naturalist guide training at Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench National Parks. He is adept at explaining the local floral and fauna, tracking tigers and explaining the mysteries of the Indian jungle. As a licensed cultural guide, Harendra is one of our favorite escorts in Northern India. He is known for his pleasant personality, flexibility, sense of humor and knowledge. To quote one of our guests, "We cannot imagine a more perfect person to guide us through this amazing country."
I hope you all get to meet him someday!
