Luxury Belize Vacation Review

Greg and Chris knew what they wanted in a trip and our Luxury Family Belize Family Vacation was just what they were looking for. They wanted different dates than those published and I was able to do not only that, but to run the trip on a private basis, just for them.

"Grettel did a great job setting up the trip for us and we really enjoyed it; especially for all of her help up front making sure everything was just right."

Chris & Greg at Xunantunich

When Greg and Chris returned they shared some of their highlights with me. They were especially impressed by their local guides. When one of the caving activities was cancelled because of heavy rain, their guide went above and beyond and arranged for them to go bird watching instead.

"We had the best time and all of our guides were first rate people. They were very personable and fun to travel with. We would be honored to call all of them friends."

Their highlight of the trip was exploring the Mayan ruins and learning about the history of the area.

"Xunantunich and Cahal Pech were amazing to see! Cahal Pech was a residence and it was very interesting to see some aspects of how the Maya lived. It was also amazing to see how the Maya developed the arch. They used a capstone solution which is different than the keystone arch the Romans developed."

"We really enjoyed hiking around Xunantunich. Luis did a superb job of getting us moving early enough to beat the crowds and he was very well versed in the history of all of the ruins and that of Belize. We literally had the entire site to ourselves for the morning which accentuated the feeling of awe. It's hard to grasp how such a place could be built by hand. Luis was a wealth of information about the people who built it and how they lived. There was a group of howler monkeys in the trees nearby making noise while we climbed to the top of the main pyramid. We watched them play and search for food. From the top, we could easily see into Guatemala and for miles around."

Chris & Josafina making tortillas

They really enjoyed the experience in San Antonio with a local women's group, getting to know them and learning how to making tortillas.

"Chris got to try her hand at grinding some corn and making tortillas. It turns out that it is quite a bit of work. Josefina made it look so easy!"

"San Antonio was a great community and the women's group is working to keep the old ways alive. I was surprised that so many people in the Cayo district still speak Maya today. Everyone seems to speak English and Creole fluently. Most also speak some Spanish and Maya. For such a small country having so many languages was unexpected."

The Lodge at Chaa Creek

They loved their luxury accommodations at the Lodge at Chaa Creek, an eco-resort nestled in the middle of a private rainforest reserve along the Macal River.

"The Chaa Creek resort is a great place and we really enjoyed it quite a bit. The food was great and the staff was always friendly and ready to answer any of our questions. Our room was superb; the bed was so comfortable and the pool was great to cool off in. We would be happy to stay there again anytime. The nature tour and butterfly breeding area were fun as well and we were able to see the keel billed toucan which is the national bird of Belize."

They also loved their stay at Chabil Mar Villas, a boutique luxury resort located on a little slice of heaven known as Placencia. From there they took a trip to the barrier reef at Silk Caye and swam with nurse sharks, hawkbills, turtles and sting rays.

"Our room at Chabil Mar was freshly renovated and amazing. All new appliances and the largest TV I have ever seen. One of the bartenders at the resort was from San Antonio where we had made tortillas. He knew everyone we had visited that day. Belize is like a small town."

"Getting to experience Belize was such a treat; we look forward to working with you on much more travel! We had a great time and we are looking forward to our next trip with you to Cuba!" - Greg and Chris Dunham

I had a great time planning this trip for Greg and Chris. I loved their enthusiasm and spirit of adventure to travel even when I mentioned that November is part of the green/rainy season in Belize, nothing would stop them to have a great time in the tropics!

One of the things I like about organizing trips is the flexibility I can offer when planning one. Many people have specific travel dates and if they don't find the dates on our web page, I'm happy to accommodate their travel window. Prices are roughly the same in many cases or around 5% more expensive which is not usually a significant different.

When your travel bug gets restless, don't wait, call me and I'll be happy to help you plan a fantastic trip in Central America or Cuba. I'm just a phone call away!
