This multigenerational family just returned from their Sacred Lands of the Incas trip to Peru- their 5th Wildland Adventure! Beginning in Cusco, they continued on to the lush Sacred Valley where they met with locals and hiked to remote villages and ruins. They ended their trip at the ancient and awe-inspiring citadel of Machu Picchu with a stunning and challenging hike up to the impressive Huayna Picchu.
“We signed up for this trip because Machu Picchu is a don't miss travel destination and I like outdoor trips with the kids.
Wildland's help in planning and preparation was excellent. We had all the right clothing and accessories. Reading "Turn right at Machu Picchu" was a fantastic recommendation.
Ground arrangements were prefect- always someone there to greet us. Our guide, Elkin was great. Elkin had to deal with some of us struggling during the 3 hour hike and he took my husband’s shoes to get them resoled overnight for $15 - awesome!! Our drivers in Lima and Cusco were excellent. Lima driving is crazy. Nick in Cusco was wonderful.
The Monasterio in Cusco is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Worth it! We liked Sanctuary a lot; the hot tub was fantastic. They treated us very well at the Green House Villas- I liked the meals prepared for us there; it was nice to eat in after a long day.
The Incan stone work was most impressive, particularly given the terrain. The beauty was reminiscent of Hawaii. I loved climbing Huayna Picchu- it was my favorite part of the trip. It was challenging and beautiful. It scared off half our group and, while very scary at the top, was totally worth it!!”
