Photography with Mauricio Torres

Join renowned Ecuadoran photography expert Mauricio Torres back aboard the new luxury MV Theory! A true master of his craft, Mauricio will join guests both aboard and on land to offer his knowledge of photography. Guests aboard this year's Photography Departure will first be treated to an optional fundamentals class, during which they will have the opportunity to learn some wildlife photography basics from Mauricio. Among the topics covered will be lighting, and how to make the best use of it naturally.

All of the photography enrichments are optional and offered when passengers are already spending time on the vessel such as before breakfast, after lunch, and after dinner. Special photography activities won't interfere with any of the regularly scheduled Galapagos activities and excursions in any way, so you can still expect plenty of time snorkeling with sea lions and hiking the beautiful beaches alongside land iguanas.

Mauricio will accompany guests during their shore walks, where he'll discretely photograph you and your companions to obtain candid photographs that you'll be able to cherish for a lifetime. You can expect an abundance of incredible photographs to come from your Galapagos cruise, both of the local scenery and wildlife as well as you and your travel companions.

Marine Biology with Jack Grove

In the past century, many trusted stewards have carried on Darwin's legacy, ever mindful of the value innate to this chain of storied islands. In 2019, we're excited to welcome back aboard one of the foremost and accomplished modern wards of Galapagos wildlife, marine biologist and author Jack Grove.

"As a marine biologist, expedition leader, photographer, and author of The Fishes of the Galápagos Islands, I was thrilled to be aboard two special cruises this past September. During these cruises, I accompanied guests on all land and sea excursions to provide insights into the unique marine life and wildlife habitat in the Galapagos. It is always an exceptional pleasure to share my enthusiasm for marine science and the fishy world of ichthyology while leading snorkelers through these enchanted seas." – Jack Grove

As with last years departures, Jack will be available to guests during evenings for sharing of photography and informal discussions and lectures.
