One of the most amazing things I have ever seen

Susan and her family just returned from our Sacred Lands of the Incas Adventure and was amazed by Machu Picchu, Cusco and the people they met while in Peru.

“I appreciated all the information that you sent and found it very helpful. We were able to get a good background from this information and the books you suggested.

Machu Picchu was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. It was truly fascinating and I am inspired to research and read more about these people and their way of life. We also found the time in and around Cusco to be fascinating. Walking through some of the villages and seeing how the people live and go about their daily activities was eye-opening. I watched one woman trudge up a hill to a village outside Cusco. She was wearing typical garb with a hat and brightly colored skirt. Her feet, in sandals, like her face were well worn. I was struck by the hardness of her life. She spends most of her time on the basics of living. Compared to our fast paced, wired world, she seemed to be living in a little oasis untouched by the world outside.

Our guide in Cusco was Elkin and he was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable, sharing lots of good information about the history of each place we went. He knew the area extremely well and provided us with a very thorough background on what we were seeing. Our driver in Cusco was Werner and he was amazing. Driving in Peru is an experience and he wove his way through the traffic and navigated the roads with incredible efficiency. Our guide in Lima was also very good. We toured the Catacombs and the square and she provided lots of good information. We also had a good conversation on the bus about life in Peru today, both the good and the bad. It was very informative. Ernesto was our driver there and he too was excellent. Our hats are off to these gentlemen for navigating through the traffic on those rough roads and delivering us safely to our destination. Nick, in Cusco, got us back and forth from the hotel to the Monasterio and was very thorough and efficient.

The meals were all excellent. The special tent luncheon after the hike through the Sacred Valley was delightful. After a very strenuous hike, we walked into the serene area with a tent set up and a lovely luncheon waiting. Our comfort was obviously a high priority and the hand washing station and bathroom tent were most welcome.

Monasterio Hotel Cusco

The accommodations were excellent. The Monasterio is a wonderful place. I could have spent more time just exploring the hotel. Service was superb! The unit at the Green House Villas was nicely appointed and comfortable. It was fun to have the space to relax and be with our family. The meals provided there were good. The Sanctuary hotel was great; lovely rooms, hot tub, good restaurant. Being so close to Machu Picchu enabled us to go back and forth and really make the most of our time there.
