The Pascualy and Lindquist group came to us hoping to visit Patagonia. Their trip grew from there, stopping in first to visit the Colchagua wine region of Santiago for a few days before they flew south to Torres del Paine. The bike and wine tour they did through the Colchagua wine valley was "a real highlight" they "wish they could have stayed longer" at Clos Apalta.
When they first approached us about this trip we discussed a few options in Torres del Paine, eventually landing on Explora Lodge. It was certainly the right decision! Their stay at Explora Lodge was, "fantastic, best lodge and location I have ever experienced. The staff and services in addition to the activities and scenery were incredible." At Explora the group had a chance to do a variety of activities from hiking to a full day horseback ride with Explora's resident gaucho. For Lisa and Juli, who know their way around horses, it was a wonderful surprise that Explora offers "real horseback riding!"
After Explora, the group headed across the border to El Calafate where they settled in for a few days of glacier based adventure. Even though there was some minor flooding that affected their planned hike for the day, their guide Mica, "did an awesome job of reorganizing the day on the fly." They boated and hiked to a beautiful viewpoint of the Perito Moreno glacier in what Lisa described as a "day that was fun and well done. A real Patagonia adventure!" They also had the chance to kayak in the waters in front of the glacier - a really unique experience!
Kelsey, a Wildland program director, happened to be in El Calafate for the same time so they had a chance to meet up and share a glass of malbec before the group continued their journey to Buenos Aires and onward home.
Finally, a question we ask all our travelers: What advice would you give to travelers going on this Wildland adventure?
