Patagonia Trip Review: "This bucket-list trip did not disappoint"

Iguazu Falls - can you find the boat?

It was a real pleasure working with the Percivals to create a custom trip to Patagonia. They journeyed by boat, on foot, and by car to remote corners of Patagonia and to Iguazu Falls in Argentina. Below are their highlights and photos they shared with us:

The Zodiac ride up the Rio Serrano from the Serrano Glacier to the settlement on the Rio Serrano in Torres del Paine N.P. was a special treat. None of us had really focused on that part of the itinerary and we thank you for that unique experience. I don't think the four of us and our boatmen saw another person on that entire trip up the river. It was a very memorable way to enter Torres del Paine.

All of our guides were prompt, attentive and customer-focused. Our guide, Ismael and his delightful driver, Eduardo, accompanied us between El Calafate and El Chalten and we enjoyed an easy, relaxed, two-way conversation with him. He displayed terrific English skills and provided a thoroughly interesting narrative skillfully adapted to our interests.

Melia Iguazu has a great location and Iguazu Falls definitely earned its reputation as one of the seven natural wonders of the world - it was everything we hoped it would be!

Explora Patagonia. An unbeatable view
Eolo, Patagonia's spirit

The Explora Lodge is expensive, so we were very interested to see whether it would be worth it. Our answer is yes – it's a fine facility, the food and meal service are very good. The daily activities from Explora are very well-organized. But the real clinchers for us was the location (oh, my!),  the wonderful, energetic pairs of guides for each of the hikes, and meeting people from different places and of different ages on the hikes (and with whom we could later connect and share meals/stories at the lodge). There was a very nice combination of Boomers and honeymooners who thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. And there is just no substitute for waking up to that sunrise view of Torres del Paine from your hotel room, and watching the same view at sunset as you enjoy your dinner with a glass of wine.

Eolo – In our view, this was the best accommodation of the trip. We enjoyed a wonderful territorial view that gave us a real sense of the vastness of that part of Patagonia. The facility is first-rate, and the service, including quality of the meals and meal services, is truly outstanding.

"This adventure was a bucket-list splurge for us, and did not disappoint. We think the arrangements Wildland Adventures made for us were definitely worth the price. Thanks so much for your help in adapting your Patagonia hiking itinerary to our particular needs and schedule."
