An email just came in this morning which made me smile:
“Jeff, sipping a glass of wine under my mosquito net in our fabulous camp Maramboi. I have never seen so many stars in my life, still enjoying the memories of our afternoon in the Tarangire national park where we saw LOTS of elephant, giraffe, zebra, gazelle, wart hogs, a jackal, plenty of birds, antelope, monkeys, mongoose, and more!!!!!! No cats yet but we have a wakeup call for 6:00am tomorrow. Wonderful news about the upgrade. . . So far everything has exceeded my expectations. . . . My daughter and I are in HEAVEN!!!!!” – Katharine de Barrueta
I love getting updates from our travelers in the field, especially when they’re really connecting with the place, people and surrounding environment as you once did. It reminds you of your own fond memories. For me, Katharine’s comments bring back the honey colored sunset at Maramboi. I remember it slowly sinking to meet the rise of the rift valley escarpment, and how the marmalade glow refecting off Lake Manyara in the distance illuminated the silhouettes of a few passing zebra and gazelle. A truly magical spot… glad to hear that they’re loving it as much as I do.
If you are interested in visiting Maramboi, have a look at our Serengeti Wilderness Safari or Serengeti Family Safari, both excellent itineraries that explore the national parks of norhern Tanzania in Wildland style.
