"We have used Wildland for two of our previous trips- each being a very pleasant experience, but this custom Peru trip was the best so far!
Every place on this trip has been amazing. Really. With wonderful guides who really care about our having a great time definitely made a difference. At the Cruz del Condor, we weren't having much luck with condor sightings and although we told our guide Betty that it was not a big deal, she was determined to get us at least one sighting. When we did end up seeing the condors- which was indeed spectacular- it was an even greater experience because our guide was so happy that we got a chance to see it. Her enthusiasm was very influential to our experience.
Our 2 main guides (Betty and Carlos) were superb! They were very passionate about their country and were very intuitive when it came to reading our energy levels, enthusiasm, interests, etc. They were very professional and we felt were in very good, safe hands. Betty genuinely took care of my wife when she fell a bit sick during our stay in Colca Canyon. Carlos was very good at setting a reasonable pace for the Inca trek and made sure we were in good health. Wonderful, wonderful guides with wealth of knowledge.
A few notes on the places we stayed:
COLCA LODGE- such a charming place! great views, relaxing atmosphere with the hot springs and cute alpaca/llama farm.
TITLAKA- gorgeous hotel. They have amazing tours with an excellent tour guide name Julius Caesar who made our Uros Island/Taquile Island experience.
TAMBO DEL INKA- A wonderful hotel. The timing within our itinerary was perfect as we settled here right after a long drive from Juliaca and coming "home" to a very accommodating hotel catered to American guests was very welcoming.
MACHU PICCHU PUEBLO- so charming and had delicious food. We wished we had more time here with their own tour services.
PALACIA NAZARENAS- This was the HIGHLIGHT HOTEL of our trip. The hotel is just gorgeous and super swanky- a perfect way to end our trip. We wished so much that we had more days here as the service, amazing food, super comfy accommodations were head above the rest.
The breakfast at Palacio Nazarenas was probably our best meal of the trip! They use local ingredients as well as their own herbs they grow around the restaurant. Every single item on the menu and at the buffet table was delicious!
We were so impressed with the Inca Trail and how it was structured! All you hear is how crowded the Inca Trail is and we really didn't see anyone! Pretty incredible to be in such beautiful country by yourself!
Another highlight on this trip was when we finished our Patacancha Valley hike and a local woman asked our tour guide Carlos if we were interested in seeing her textile projects. We walked into the alley of her home and she showed us her weaving process and then her work. We ended up buying pieces and took a picture with her to remember such a wonderful and spontaneous moment in our itinerary. It definitely beat buying things from a store!
Can't believe the time went so fast- thank you! "
