Great trip report from the Gelfand family on our Costa Rica Active Family Adventure
At the end of each day, we would remark, "OK, this was my favorite day so far!"
All of the outdoor adventures were great fun (zip lining, white water rafting, rappelling, horseback riding) but of particular note were the interactions with the locals, including ALL the local guides and the delicious lunches at Miriam's and at the top of the mountain at Santa Juana.
Oxcart factory - Hydro-electric energy was super cool!!!
Vida Campensina Farm - GREAT lunch and very informative. GREAT local guide (Jose)
Horseback Riding Tour - Supercool
Family canoeing and snorkeling - Another wonderful guide! Great activity!
White water rafting - FANTASTIC tour, tour guide (John) and waterfall surprise!
Monkeys, sloths, gorgeous birds in the Manuel Antonio National Park
Hike through rainforest - Seeing ants at work was incredible. Who knew!?!?
Sugar cane mill - Was very cool too! Truly all great experiences. Even the tilapia fishing on the farm was relaxing and fun!
Truly all great experiences!
Gerardo was exceptional! His knowledge of Costa Rican culture and history along with his attention to every detail made out trip truly unforgettable. We were so well taken care of. He was a pleasure to spend each and every day with- and have meals with--he is smart, funny, knowledgable and in-tune to our preferences in every way possible. He was always timely and attentive while also being careful to allow us some family only time. We all feel like we made a new friend in Gerardo.
In addition, all of the local guides were really great. We felt in very capable hands at all times, even by the staff at zip line and canyoneering locations. Jose was a fantastic guide at family owned farm, very professional and kind. As well as the other guides on the farm.
The whole trip met and exceeded all of our expectations. While it was not "fancy," we were so well looked after, we felt a bit spoiled! We would finish up a hike through the rainforest and, like magic, Gerardo would present us with COLD fresh fruit or a coconut with a straw to enjoy the refreshing coconut water. Or Yucca chips, local cookies...He was always surprising us with treats. It was definitely the most accommodating tour we have taken to date and would highly recommend to friends and family.
We were most touched by how truly friendly the local guides and families that we met were. Everyone was so nice! Eating lunch at Miriam's house was wonderful.
What places and experiences did you enjoy least and why?
Not applicable--whole trip was awesome!
